He was getting used to his human form. He flapped his wings. At least they still moved. "Prepare to die, gargoyle," the grotesque figure snarled. Her fetid breath washed over him, making him want to gag, but he wouldn't show weakness. He had a warrior's heart and if it stopped beating today at least it would stop in battle. He swiped at her, but she leaned out of the way. He hadn't ever encountered a goblin that had magical powers like this. Had they developed since he'd been in stone?

“We’re gonna teach this fucker a lesson.” I lowered the LED a few inches and spotted the disgusting thing crawling up the wall. I could try several paragraphs of description, and you will think I should’ve just said it looked like Gollum and save everybody time. So yeah, that’s what it looked like. “A crawler?” I said mockingly. “You fucking roach are the infamous Skippy?” The dark thing tried to sneak into the door to Quaker Hall basement, but I aimed my LED at the doorway, making it crawl back and up toward the ceiling.

voices spoke from behind the rocks. Sweat formed on Lily's forehead, and her heart started beating irregularly. Before she could react and hide from the mysterious voices, two goblins jumped in her direction. They were hideously ugly, with broad noses, flat faces, pointed ears, and wide mouths filled with small but sharp fangs. Their skin ranged from deep red to shades of orange and yellow, with members of the same tribe sharing similar skin colors. The two goblins salivated excessively. "D- Delicious meat, stop! We just want to be friends with you," one of the goblins with a shorter height said, attempting to negotiate.

It was a monstrous creature, its grotesque form blending seamlessly with the malevolence of the night. A troll, twice the size of a man, stood before them, its gnarled skin covered in warts and scars. Its eyes glowed with an insidious hunger as it snarled, revealing rows of jagged teeth. The goblins halted their pursuit, cackling with glee at the sight of their newfound ally. Leori's mind raced, searching for a plan, a way to overcome this seemingly insurmountable obstacle. He locked eyes with his companions, their shared determination unspoken but palpable. In that fleeting moment, they knew they had to fight for their lives.

The streets weren’t too crowded and I figured I’d have a better chance of getting a cab in the next town over. Then, just as I was about to cross the street, the deep growl of an engine cut through the air beside me. I stopped in my tracks as a sleek black Ducati pulled up next to me. Even before the rider removed their helmet, I recognized the black leather jacket. Of course. Tyson. I folded my arms, already scowling as he finally pulled off the helmet, shaking out his hair with that infuriating, lazy confidence. "Need a lift, blonde?" He asked, the smirk on his face making it clear he already knew the answer.

Ulfhild's lips trembled slightly before she firmed them once more and he knew that she had heard him. He was about to say more when he scented something unexpected on the ocean breeze. Wolves. Huge wolves, fangs bared, running full tilt down the beach alongside an entire contingent of Viking warriors, Erik and Birger in the lead.

"Somebody help me! My baby!" Camille's screams echoed through the entire floor. Doctors and nurses came running and rushed her into the operating room. Bryce stood there looking dumbfounded. Something like glee flickered across his face, but he swallowed it down and jabbed a finger at me instead, putting on a show of outrage. "You're not even human. What kind of monster kills his own child?" His eyes were practically glowing with excitement. He grabbed my arm and started yelling for everyone to hear. "I'm calling the cops! You're a piece of shit. You're a goddamn animal!"

From the corner of my eye, I see Ragnar watching it all from the sidelines, like a messenger of death himself. A rogue tries to flee. Ragnar's scythe spins out of his hand, decapitating him, but he doesn't kill him, I notice, just as someone knocks me down and just like that, I'm carried into the heat of the battle again. Ryker, on the other hand, blurs between wolf and human, leaving dead men in his wake till the last of the rogues stands. "Who sent you?" Ryker asks. I wobble on my feet, completely exhausted but manage to keep the stray wolf firmly in a chokehold.
