I released my magic and sent its dark tendrils racing throughout the battle, slithering along the ground and latching onto every corpse within range. A sharp tug pierced my gut, and the dead began to rise. Slade’s grin widened as his magic did the same, reviving the fallen and bending them to his will.
While he had significantly less than I did, his were more refined—more human in their movements and mannerisms. Mine were nothing more than mindless husks, hell-bent on destruction and mayhem.
