“Come on, you big lug!” The giant half-wolf wriggles out of my grip into the car. He turns around, snapping and snarling at me until I slam the door closed in his face. I run to the driver's side and jump in. Ghost’s roar is deafening. He jumps into the back seat and lunges at me. I use my arm to hold him back by the throat while I race out of the garage. His paws swipe, trying to attack me. I slam on the brakes, throwing him forward. While he’s distracted, I push the button on the steering wheel and hear the little dinging sound.

The one burdened by centuries of regret. But then he turned sharply, nostrils flaring. “We’re not alone.” My pulse jumped. “What?” He motioned for silence. The air shifted. A faint shimmer appeared in the distance, like light bending wrong. Then I saw it like a shape, pale and trembling, emerging from the fog. A wolf. No… not alive. Its eyes glowed white, its body translucent, trailing mist. A spirit of Meadow Pack “What is that?” I breathed. Varic drew his sword in one swift motion. “A ghost wolf. Bound to this place.”

She hated to stretch her neck to talk to people that tall while they look down at her from their crazy height. " I don't know what you're talking about," she said nonchalantly before she went back to lay on the mat and all her wolves appeared. The biggest one Greskin was always next to her and he seemed to be more clingy than the rest. All her wolves were snow white except for Greskin. His fur was black with silver highlights here and there and his eyes were blue. Gina recalled seeing it maul people on Elora's command and she felt a little bit threatened by it so she moved backward and hid behind Aidan.

It was like a dead human with the strangest appearance. Elongated nails that were as black as the dark night. A body that seems to be fading she could almost call it a ghost if not for the fact that she was really looking at it. No form of nose, eyes mouth or ears, just a black foggy head. What was it? Suddenly, bright reddish orbs blazed open from the formless head and looked straight at her, spellbinding her that she just couldn't look away. There was a flash of something in its eyes that if she had blinked, she would have missed it.

She let out a yowl and fell forward, and then a gale of wind swept past, lifted her skirt, and exposed her under— There was no underwear at all, actually. Instead, it revealed four sticks tied to the Pomeranian’s legs, hiding behind a long white sheet. The darkness of the night had managed to hide the dog’s shadow behind the sheet. It had a long, wooden candle holder in its mouth with a piece of green LED light on either side, which were the eyes on the ghost’s chest. Finally—and just as ridiculously—there was a phone bound to the dog’s tail, where a video of a ghost screaming played in a loop. “Give it back! Give my head back!”

A high pitched whine, followed by dainty barking pierces Melody’s ears, startling her awake. Her body shudders, arms flail upward, as Melody’s heart pounds against her ribcage, her chest expands rapidly, then she realizes it’s Pearl. The nine week old English cream Golden Retriever, is sounding off, alerting the whole house, she is here, awake, and needs to go outside. A smile spreads across Melody’s face, her whiskey-green amber eyes, soften and melt gazing at Pearl. “Hi sweetie,” Melody’s voice cracking, softly speaking. She rises from bed, shimmying her feet into some slip on sneakers, and wraps a light long grey sweater over her body.

I reached out and pressed the radio button on the steering wheel. My voice was cold, cutting through the static. "Mason Vale, do you see a ghost in your mirror?" I said coldly into the radio. Those words pierced straight through Mason's last line of composure. His car hesitated for an obvious instant on the straight. Now. I smashed the throttle down. The car tore through the air and pulled alongside him. Ahead was a chain of fast S-curves. Seeing that I was about to pass, a vicious look flashed through Mason's eyes.

There was fresh blood on the floor, but the animal didn't react. I took a shaky step forward, my heart hammering against my ribs. The wolf didn't turn. I walked closer, standing five feet away and holding my bleeding hand out. Nothing. I walked until I was standing right next to the bars, inches from the cold metal. The wolf threw itself at the cage again, trying to get to Declan. Its claws sparked against the iron. It ignored me completely. I was invisible. "You really are a Ghost," Declan said softly. He walked up beside me. He raised the knife again and sliced his own palm.

It will only take half a second for whoever is out there to get a good shot and take another member of this Pack out for good. “Fuck.” Low growls when a shot comes from somewhere in the darkness, it hits the ground right next to Ghost’s foot and makes him fall back onto his ass. I glance at him and realise my mistake. Ghost is no ordinary man; he practically glows in the dark like a damn homing beacon for anyone hunting at night.
