The bigger of the two Rogues spoke, licking his lips watching me slowly back up. "I would watch how you speak to our future Queen." Nate said through gritted teeth. He wanted to rip the man’s throat out for even implying he would touch me. "Now, now, little alpha boy, the three of you are no match for us, but if you like to give it a go then come on then." The man taunted, waving them to come fight him. His partner chuckled next to him. They were consider Rogues by the kingdom standards, but not by the goddess. A true Rogue was a lone wolf with no pack that lost his humanity. I could tell these wolves belonged to no pack, but they weren't feral.

“Is that the reason you remove them from the pack?” Thrumming my fingers on my desk, I made an annoyed grunt and said, “Vaewolf are rogue and don't assimilate to a pack. They follow their own rules and follow their own drum beats. Now enough about them. Go train with the guards and take your pal Nathan, or go to the village bar and have a drink,” I stated. As he stood, he smiled. “So Nathan's cool because he is just a vampire and you don't want to share your good liquor.”

Far across the city, in the fog-wrapped forests that bordered the outskirts, a man ran on four limbs—barefoot and shirtless—toward the circle of cabins hidden within the pines. He shifted as he entered the clearing, bones snapping, muscles rearranging until he stood tall again, panting and human. Radiating dominance, power, and age, the Rogue Alpha didn’t move as the scout knelt before him. “She’s attending the gala, Alpha.” The golden-eyed man finally turned his head. She finished the sentence with a sigh. "Well you should be careful around them, they are rogues. Rogues are the exiled werewolves, they committed crimes, kicked out their pack because of abuse or they were born with rogues parents." He shrugged and tugged her arm to bring her close to his chest, she hugged him close and tightly wrapped her arms around his neck.

He tilts his head, a cocky grin on his lips. “And here all the reports stated how smart you are.” he looks at me curiously. He seems disappointed before he continues. “Rogues might not be the strongest, but physical strength isn't everything. That’s a huge mistake all the northern territories make. The rogues are cunning, often not just smart but adept at adapting to their surroundings, and they are ruthless. They want to survive and they crave connection. They are the best kept secret weapon. One you all refused to see since you deem them all useless.”

Some of the girls started swooning. Rogues are wolves without a pack and sometimes without a family. They used to be viewed as dangerous, and uncontrollable but seeing that they're admitted here, that must have changed. They must have lived hard lives too, the woods are unkind to lone wolves.
