So good.” He moaned deeply, the sound vibrating through me, then took another bite. “This tastes so fucking good, right?” He looked at me and winked.

Is that what Eliza was? Christian’s voice sounded a bit haunted, though just as confident and cocky as always as he said, “Sort of—but much more deadly. A lot more powerful, too.” He shifted his eyes to look at Aaron, but the Leader wasn’t looking at him at all. His arms were folded and he was looking at the ground, which made me think he knew exactly what Christian was talking about. “Do we not have any newer weapons we can try that might destroy them more quickly? Like the grenade we used against Gibbon?” Aurora asked.

he exclaimed righteously. “Cheaters aren’t allowed to take away my family’s money!” “Either do as I say, or I let my bodyguards do their thing!” “We’ll see if your little brother’s better than my bodyguards’ guns!” Christian flashed them a gleeful smile as he fiddled with two chips, as smug as ever. He seemed quite calm, but was in fact exuding a dark aura of unspeakable malice. “You’re lawless, Christian! You’re distorting the truth!”

I felt a little relief, believing in my heart that the Omega was wrong, but then entered Andy, alone, with a paper in his hand. “Andy, where is your master?” the orator asked. Everywhere went silent, as though the world was cast into the bottom of an ocean. Andy walked up to the orator, and handed the paper to him. “This is a blood letter from the Lycan king.” Andy said and backed off. The orator peered at the letter and handed it over to the elders, whose faces showed their dismay as they read the letter. “What’s written on that paper?” I asked myself, curiosity and fear were already winning.

Emily scolded. After minutes of climbing the team of four finally reached underground. Chambers broke the descent, flashes of painted walls catching their light. First—bright colors: gods crowned in gold, kings lifted in triumph. Then darker—angels turning away, mortals bound in chains, eyes painted so sharply they seemed alive. The beauty bled into menace with every step. "Damn," Caleb exclaimed, staring at the walls. "They even inscribed death spells on the walls" Emily whispered. "Death spells?" Eric muttered, his voice bouncing off the stone. "That's comforting."

This book is dedicated to Bukade—my awesome friend who's helped me very very much in the creation of this book, and Favour Edem, too—my first love, for taking her time to explain stuffs about Werewolves, and Vamps, and Witches to me. The second we’re in close enough proximity, the thing wakes up and refuses to be put back to rest, not until it’s spent. “And you remain so very easy to read,” Christian gloats. “I spotted your proclivities in an instant, remember? I can see your every conflict, and I can see most clearly…” He smiles. “You still haven’t reported me to your superiors, love.”

The New York skyline stabbed through the window, all sharp and cold, but the pages weren’t helping. The door creaked open, and there he was—Christian, leaning against the frame, arms crossed over his chest. His black t-shirt clung to him, black pants sharp as his gaze. He looked like trouble, the kind that could burn the world down and walk away smirking. But There’s something about Christian people don’t see. They see the scowl, the sharp edges, the darkness he doesn’t bother hiding. But me? I see the quiet peace underneath it. I’ve seen it since the beginning. And no matter how rough he gets, I know this is the man who would tear everything apart just to make sure I’m okay.

’’ he asked. Owen looked taken aback, and he looked from me to Christian. I watched as his gaze grew more deadlier as he looked at us, and I knew that he was pissed and probably thinking of the different ways to kill Christian because murder was the thing he was good at. At least, that was how he got rid of me.
