I reply giggling with excitement. "Hey guys!! We found plants!" The rest of our team gathers around with a mixture of shock and joy plastered on their faces, we were all officially permanent members of A****n City! We gather the plants which were a large quantity of broccoli, asparagus, cabbages, carrots and even potatoes, back to the city. Everyone is totally excited, who won't be? We were thinking we were going to fail but look at how it turned out. The journey back seemed shorter, happy songs filled the air accompanied with laughter, it felt like one of those celebrations people had before the Great war.

She bent down and struggled with her heels. "What are you doing?" She brought her legs up after unstrapping the heels. "My feet hurt." I looked at her feet which were slightly red at places. She was singing to herself when suddenly she sat up straighter. "Did I tell you?" She looked at me with wide eyes that were gleaming with excitement. "What?" I wondered what got her so excited. "I saw this one guy there who winked at me and gave me his number." My mood just soured in a second. This was exciting news!?

I just happened to be that person. I wasted no time heading to Walmart to pick up the necessary items needed for a young girl’s first period. I also got the items to make my famous baked s’mores. They always picked me up when my period came on, so I hoped it would do the same for Kala. I bought her a few balloons, a heating pad, and a few other snacks before making my way to the checkout. Just as I was loading my items on the conveyer belt, my phone vibrated in my hand.

I stated politely, deciding to be the better person. “Whatever." She brushed me off and ended the call. I gently placed the phone back on the seat and waited for Brian... Brian returned with a big paper bag and a big smile on his face. He sat down and began to take the food out handing me a pack of fries and chicken. “I hope you didn't miss me too much." Brian said playfully still smiling. I didn’t but apparently, your girlfriend did… she called not too long ago.” I replied with no smile on my face. I watched as the color drained from his face.
