“Aiko,” Glen called, holding up a small bucket and sand toys. She blinked, pulled back to the present.
“Let’s build something,” he said, trying to lighten the mood.
Slowly, the heaviness in her chest eased. She followed him under the umbrella—and together, they began to build a sandcastle.
A moment later, as they walked along the shore, Glen’s gaze fell to her hand. The faint bruises were still there—silent reminders of what she had endured. His jaw tightened, and without a word, he gently guided her toward a small souvenir shop nearby.
