He scowled at me but there was no real bite in it. "Which one do you want?" It took a split second for me to realize he was going to let me choose something. My grin widened as I eagerly looked around at my options. I knew I was acting like a child but that's what this festival did to you. It brought out your inner child and what was more of a perfect time for that than Christmas. And add on to the fact Knox was being very sweet by winning me something. "I'll take Rudolph." I pointed to the kinda smaller reindeer hanging by himself. The older man working the booth handed him over with a kind smile as I held two stuffed animals in my arms.

It didn't matter to us, it was entertaining to watch when either Starliss or Neo took up the arguments. "Simple, Christmas is the period to dress up in the scariest of costumes in honor of Santa's wife, Draculaura, scare the souls out of humans, and then gather together for trick or treat. No treats, then you devour their souls," Odette said with a proud grin. Neo and I snickered as he took from my bag of banana chips. I didn't buy it for myself. It was kind of a habit to buy the chips and have Neo and Odette eat from them with either of their arms over my shoulders.

And Noah, in front of everyone, let go of my hand to pass a gift box to Heidi. "Heidi, your Christmas present." Heidi excitedly tore it open. When she pulled out the worn pocket watch inside, she pouted. "Noah, you're so rich. Why are you giving me something this old?" Noah smiled without answering. But I froze completely. I'd seen that pocket watch before, in the portrait of Noah's late father.

"I'm back with Taren." Taren extended his hand. "It's nice to see you again." "The pleasure is mine," Mr. Cummings replied, shaking his hand. "What can I do for you today?" Taren glanced over at Kiki and then turned back to the man who looked so much like Santa Claus. "Christmas presents." "Christmas is over," he replied. Taren nodded, his lips curling into a smile. "Yes, but we didn't get to celebrate properly, so we're going to make up for it tonight."

I have never trusted December. People say that sounds dramatic, but those people never watched their parents’ house burn down on Christmas Eve while the rest of the town kept singing carols like nothing happened. So yes,every time snow falls, my skin crawls. And tonight, on December 1st, Hallowpine is drowning in it. Snowflakes tumble from the sky like they’re drunk on holiday spirit, sticking to my eyelashes as I lock up my bakery. Sugar & Sin,the name sounds cute until you realize the only sugar inside is the kind I dump into coffee to survive this town.

You’re here bright and early!" “Oh, yes!” he chuckled as I parked and stepped out of my car. “Gotta get ready to buy gifts for the kids. Almost the big day, you know.” “Right,” I said, forcing some cheer into my voice. “That’s nice. I’m sure they’re excited.” And they probably were most people were. Christmas had a way of lifting spirits, of wrapping people in warmth and nostalgia. Not for me, though. Christmas felt more like a season for memories I’d rather forget.

Kiara After offering Santa his fill of my milk and cookies, we settle down to watch "Home Alone" and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." As the night deepens, we change into some warm clothes. Then, Trey prepares hot chocolate, filling thermoses for our Christmas lights adventure. Excitement courses through me as we drive through the illuminated streets, the colorful displays creating a magical atmosphere. As we pull up to the Botanical Garden, I find myself practically bouncing with anticipation.

“Anyway, the village is preparing for the holiday. So we should probably tell her before she screams at something festive again.” I tilted my head. “Holiday?” Lucian smirked. “Christmas.” I blinked. “Christmas. The thing with the dressed trees and glowing ropes.” “Yes,” Marek sighed. “And people celebrate this willingly?” I asked. Lucian nodded. “Some even enjoy it.” I stared at them like they were insane. Christmas. Snow. Lights. Wolves. This world was a disaster. But some part of me softened. Just a little. Maybe not everything here was meant to hurt me.
