“Elara.” She looked up. “When I say jump... jump.” “What?” “Trust me.” “I do.” The answer came instantly. Without hesitation. His chest tightened. He had never wanted to deserve someone's trust as much as he did hers. He wrapped one arm around her securely. With the other, he reached toward the emergency lever. The elevator continued falling. Twenty-nine. Twenty-eight. Twenty-seven. He pulled. Nothing happened. He pulled harder. The lever finally snapped downward. A violent grinding noise exploded beneath them.

"You merely accelerate your own expiration, Alpha. The gravity well can go deeper." A secondary pulse of invisible force slammed into us. The sound was a low, resonant thud that caused the ancient basalt ridge beneath my fingers to violently groan. A massive, jagged fissure ripped open directly above our heads, the stone splitting with a dry, terrifying crack that sprayed a shower of black shale down our faces. My right hand lost its purchase as the seam widened into a useless, crumbling gap, leaving me hanging entirely from Killian’s single, straining grip.

On the opposite building, the mass of zombies pressing the line had ripped the anchor right out of the drywall. The line itself hadn't snapped; the wall had. Hayley plummeted with Griffin on her back and a rainstorm of zombies falling with her. She really wanted to curse out loud. Was Griffin some kind of disaster magnet? The fall lasted barely over two seconds, and the speed only increased. Hayley reacted in less than a blink. She looped the line around her hands again and again. The cable whipped downward. Szzzt! Friction sparked across her palms, burning even through the protective gloves. The heat stabbed deep into her skin with a drilling pain.

She moves her hands as if she is creating a ball with her hands and then she hits the ball towards the ground. The entire ground shakes for a few seconds and there is a slit running on the ground. The entire group is divided into two and a few people fall into the slit and down into the earth where the earth swallows the Rogues. The slit is not a minimal one but something that can swallow a person.

The fall was more than something he could control. He couldn’t stop the scream that forced itself out of his mouth as he found himself struggling against the force of gravity. His body hit the window guards from the top most floor and his head also hit one of the opened window glasses and continued downward until it got to the middle floor at the fourth second where it hit another opened glass window, all this slowing down his movement and increasing the pains of his fall. He closed his eyes in anticipation of his death as he continued falling.

With a guttural roar of determination, he summoned every ounce of strength within him. "Arrrrrrrrrgggghhhg!" Levi's cry echoed through the chasm as he pulled the car closer to him, his muscles straining. With a tremendous effort, he managed to flip the car onto safe ground, saving the team from a certain and harrowing fall. However, just as he was about to make his own ascent, Levi's grip faltered, and he lost his precarious hold on the edge. The earth quaked beneath him, and he fell into the abyss.

Aliyah's POV My stomach lurched as I fell, the sensation of gravity disappearing as it swallowed me whole. I tried to scream for Skylar, for Tyler, but the gag in my mouth turned my cry into a pathetic, muffled sob. The fall didn’t last as long as I expected. I hit something hard, not stone, but a thick layer of moss that smelled like old blood and stagnant water. The impact knocked the wind out of me. I rolled across the damp floor of whatever we had landed in, my silver chains clanking against the ground.

Every ounce of strength. She let go. Suddenly. My weight was already shifting backward from pulling so hard. My foot reached behind me, searching for solid ground. There was nothing. I’d forgotten where I was standing. Right at the edge of the stairs. My arms shot out, grasping desperately for the railing. My fingers brushed it but couldn’t hold on. I fell. My back slammed into the stairs. The air left my lungs. Then gravity took over. I was tumbling, my body hitting step after step. Each impact sent pain shooting through me.
