I just finished reading the last book when I started to write Descent for real! The title when this was still a draft was actually ‘Can’t Help Falling (In Love With You)’ because I was listening to the same song only the dark version at the time. But I got annoyed because I felt it was too freaking long to be a title. For a time, I settled calling the story "Fall from Grace" in my head but it still felt wrong... so when I searched for a synonym, the meaning of the word descent.. clicked; it feels like it perfectly sums up the entire plot.

He continued to pull me further away from the hospital until we found a small park just close by. There was a blanket spread out over the grass under a huge tree with a bag on it. "Surprise," he said, "I know it's not much but I can't exactly take you anywhere far from the hospital considering your condition," he said sheepishly as we both sat down. "It's still perfect," I answered. "I really missed the Sun," I smiled. "Anything is seriously better than being stuck in that hospital room." Nick chuckled, "I thought you'd say something like that. Hence I made it even perfect by getting you this," he said and removed the whole Fallen boxset from the bag.

Thank fucking God, I did not want to expend the energy it took to un-break bone. Not only was it exhausting but it was just as painful to fix as it was to get. Still, to be caught in a tree…

An obsidian stone is inside my seal, and the guards fall over themselves to let us inside once they know who I am. The wall is ridiculously tall, made of thick, reinforced steel. I crane my neck back, move my hair back to see it all. The portly guard pulls a lever, and a portion of it lowers. Clunky and groaning, the ice flys out, the gate forcing its way open. The gate lowers completely, warm water slowly trickles out, and the inside of Estate Eclipse is steaming. I grab onto Dante and he helps me past the blocks of ice until we cross the other side of the gate.

He didn't even try to dodge the falling debris. His lips shaped three words. Once, they meant everything. From him, they just made me sick. Nolan went down with the game, buried under the rubble. Whenever people go into the town center, they would look up at the statue, then to the 500 billion number, and pray in their hearts they happen upon her one of these days. With that amount of Libra, one could buy a mana vein and start a small province. No matter how those dreamers wished or how much the Falling Stardust raised the reward for finding Verra, not even a glim

My boot lands on wet earth. And like a nightmare, the ground disappears beneath me. For one horrible second, nothing happens. Then everything does. The soil gives out. Loose rocks slide violently beneath my feet. My stomach drops. “Oh shi—” The incline collapses under me. I scream. And then I’m falling.
