Grayson gritted his teeth as he reached back and grabbed a clean washcloth hanging on the outside of the door. Washing his body was never so hard. Each minute that passed, he felt his strength draining further. He leaned his head back and let the warm water rinse the shampoo out of his hair. Then mouthed with a wink, Kellen’s on his way. I nodded. Tyler’s gaze searched me for another moment, then he nodded back. Putting himself in front of me, he led me out of the hallway. Grayson stood at the end of it just before the stairs. It was the first real look I had of him. Tyler certainly took after him in looks, with blue eyes and brown hair, the cut of the jaw, and the bridge of the nose. But Grayson’s blue eyes were not full of strength or kindness. His hair was streaked with gray, his jaw grizzled with scruff, and he had a long scar from cheek to throat.

“I thought it was weird too, which is why I launched a detailed investigation into Greyson. After several days of tailing him and looking into him, I managed to find some information on him. Greyson used to be a gangster who took part in scams, abductions, fights, and brawls. He only got back on the right track two years ago when he opened his shop in the Western District.
