"It was good... a bit boring", I said, trying to cover the real truth. I had never called a book boring in my lifetime, but with him in front of me, everything else became boring to look at or even do. "How was your book?" I asked, and he began telling me how the book was, and I listened intently hoping he kept analyzing his book. He proved my theory right, everyone in The Great Gatsby was somewhat mentally ill, they were no good guys or girls, just people getting by.

I had to read parts of this for an economics course, but I never read the whole book.”

Wednesday. It was finally time to submit my book report on Great Expectations. As I handed in my five-paged report to Ms. Borja, I breathed a sigh of relief. I went through a lot to finish my report, struggling with a roller coaster of emotions and several all too familiar parallelisms along the way, but I overcame everything and came up with a report that I was proud of. Though it was somehow bittersweet that it was over, I knew that I would always remember the life and love lessons from Great Expectations.

It's been three days since she started delaying the inevitable event of being stuck with Dom in Canterbury. After minutes of pondering, she stood up and reached the small shelf of books she has. Her eyes locked on two books, Jane Eyre by Emily Bronte and Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. She had just finished reading Persuasion, and she was still on the assessment of her feelings towards the ending of the story. Maybe another book can take her mind off things. She decided on Great Expectations, gladly picking up the book and bouncing back to her bed, to enjoy another pleasurable surmount of reading a book.
