Tempting the Wrong Prince
Heat from the sheer audacity of her coming into my space and speaking of Cassandra like she was a failed investment.
I let the drink pour, the sound deliberate, controlled.
I could feel Nala watching me, trying to interpret my movement. Trying to decide whether she had struck a nerve.
And perhaps she had.
Just not the one she wanted.
“Love isn’t a transaction,” I said calmly.
The words came out almost gentle, which was perhaps the cruelest part. Because I knew what they implied.
They implied she didn’t know what love was.
I took the glass and crossed the room, sitting on the couch opposite her, one ankle resting on my knee, my gaze still fixed on her.
