The two goddesses looked up to the sky and saw a titanic form descending from the vault of heaven, wrapped in black gauze. Both bowed their heads to the presence of the star-sprinkled, black-skinned primordial deity. "We greet you, O Nyx, daughter of Chaos, you who live in the Netherworld where all is darkness," the goddesses greeted with the same voice. The Goddess of the night contemplated the two deities in front of her. "I am tired of these constant, though distracting, quarrels. I am tired of hearing the tears and sighs filled with remorse and sorrow for the same soul. I have heard your concern, O Selene, so I put my creations to the service of this martyred soul."

She pauses, taking a deep breath. “Absalom consorted with Nyx, the Goddess of the night, seeking to create an eternal night for his children. He nearly managed it too. Thus, the thousand-year war began. Gods against Gods. You would think that with Zeus, Selene and Helios as one, they would win easily. But that wasn’t the case. Absalom enlisted the help of Hades, who happily went against his brother Zeus. Hades unleashed monstrous beasts upon us. He also had Enyo, the Goddess of destruction, at his side. And, of course, Nyx, if the world was eternal night, she would be all powerful. Why wouldn’t she help him?” Again, she pauses.

I asked. Though I had asked the question in general, it was Nyx’s answer I wanted to hear. I wanted to know if she had come on her own to see me or it was just because she was ordered to do so. Nyx didn’t look like a mother who would have missed her child and wanted to see me just like that. On the other hand, she was too powerful to listen to anyone’s orders. From what I have heard, Nyx was a primordial deity who existed before the times of Olympians and Titans. Even Zeus feared her, and she was the only God Zeus was ever afraid of. So, I didn’t understand why she would come here.
