Nothing. “I can’t either,” I said, panic rising. “That’s by design, dear cousins,” a voice purred behind us. We turned to see Eris—the goddess of discord. “Strife” in English. Very on-brand. She’s the one who set the Trojan War in motion just because she wasn’t invited to a wedding. Heroes died, civilizations crumbled, divine rifts exploded. All because she got snubbed. So yeah, seeing her show up? Not a good sign.

His eyes remained still, but their darkness deepened, and then, in an instant, they flashed red - the same eerie glow I'd seen in Akira's eyes. Zeus was lord of the sky once again, but his wife also bore him three other gods: Ares, the god of war, Hephaestus, the smith-god, forger of weapons, and Eris, goddess of chaos and discord, who shrieks beside Ares in his battle chariot. I say with a slow nod. "Yeah, but it's not a good idea to use magic on others without their consent. It's unethical". He wink at me. "But you can ask her to boost your seductive powers. Afrodite is a great example by the way, she symbolises desire, passion and sexuality, her son Eros stands for love and relationships". "But why not use Freja then ? Isn't she the same as Afrodite ?" I ask.

"Goddess no! Happy for you guys, really I am." I thump his arm, "you are mated with Emerald just not in the way you think." Eros can have multiple mates but in a different form than the typical mate bond. They can love these people and have lifelong connections, but it's not a physical thing. If those who are mated need to do this whole thing to fuse that bond, it will be unbreakable.

Not after the outburst I just heard. The shocking of them all was Hera being a lesbian. My dear friend needs to guide herself. Could it be why they have been staring at themselves for a long time? I sighed, dropping the glass on the nearby table. "My sister is a Lesbian," Eros ignored my bad habits by chugging down his. "And I thought she was just unlucky with men. He had heard that his name meant sex god, but no one except Cassandra had made him want to live up to it. Ignores every order I give her.” Something softer flickered through his expression before disappearing again. “And somehow I still let her matter.” The room fell silent again. Then Eros’s face hardened. “She is something ancient,” he said quietly. “Something powerful enough that people have spent centuries searching for traces of it.”
