Erica's Point of View: As we prepared to head out on a large ship, we began our voyage to go to Maru Island, which is located in the middle of the ocean here in Gralynes. It's hot out, and the salty sea breeze brings the odor of the sea into our noses. Everything all we can see is the vast ocean. I do not know where we are headed or how long we will be sailing. As far as I know,i suggested myself that I avoid moving boats as much as possible, because when I riding a boat, I feel dizzy.

Though mistakes were made, certain things turned out okay. A weird sensation settled in my chest. I turned to see the Sea Witch Queen. She was not alone. Merfolks stood beside her. There were so many of them. Far more than the eyes could see. I pushed to my feet. Aqualia and the others noticed and we all stood, staring. The sea of merfolks parted to reveal Gramps. As usual, he wore a grim expression. He stopped inches from me. I tried to act tough, not to be affected by his scrutinizing eyes.

Sometimes, Zuko would go to the beach alone after school. He would sit by the beach staring at the endless ocean, wondering if Pammy was really sleeping in the sea. He read about The Little Mermaid and imagined a scenario where the king of the ocean found her and transformed her into a mermaid princess. Compared to humans, the young mermaid thought whales were scarier.

Nia pointed at the little crab running around Meredith's leg and shouted. Meredith did not think and quickly joined the rest to help capture the crab. Nevertheless, the crab was too quick. Very soon, it reached the edges of the ship and jumped back into the sea. "My little white crab! Uncle, I want my little white crab!" Nia stomped her feet anxiously and shouted at the crew who was busy. The crew did not even see what the little white crab looked like and asked, "What little white crab?" "Here here. It fell down from here. Uncle, please get it back for me!" Nia held the guardrail with one hand and pointed at the sea with another hand.

She laughed, "Okay. I will leave them alone." Damien and I got in the Hummer with Ely and Eivin and we left for the airport. Once we were in the air, I asked Damien why they want us there. I didn't think we could offer much help. He replied, "They know you are good at uniting species. They want to ally with the mermaids." I smiled, "Sweet! We could do the same!" He agreed, "The Queen of the Mermaids lives in one of the lakes in Nebraska." I furrowed my brows, "Really? I would've thought she lived in the ocean or the sea?" He shook his head, "Nope. This lake is her childhood home, so this is where she feels most comfortable." I smiled, "That is so cool."

Like the current that tugged at my bones, and images from the dream I'd from when I passed out- they were slowly coming back to me. Faces of the town's people that were taken- although I wasn't sure if it was truly them I saw, and that damned incomplete crown at the bottom of the ocean. It pressed at the back of my skull. Waiting and haunting. And the Mer people. Mermaids and mermen all chanting a single hymn. And I wondered if those shadows we saw that night were actually Merpeople. "Maren, Thorne, Do any of you by any chance know how to speak mermish?" I asked , hoping one of them had studied at some point.

My grandfather embraced me with trembling hands, patted me gently, and then brought me up. When I was born, mermaids almost died out, leaving only my grandpa and me. 100 years ago, we mermaids lived by the sea, like witches who have their own independent territory. But as the wars between nations spread and our territories were invaded, we had to come to human society and learn how to live like a human being.

Lyric hoped she’d put some clothes on whilst she was in there. Max stared at Niarthen intently, walking up to arms-length before offering his hand. “We hear legends of Mermaids, but no one has ever seen one,” he said. “I am Max Grayson. And you are?” “Niarthen,” Niarthen took Max by the wrist firmly, in what Lyric assumed was the Mer version of a handshake, before releasing him. He reached to take Lyric’s hand, drawing her forth. “This is Mia Persuma Inillium, Lyric.”
