Jonathan was looking at me , expectantly. When I nodded yes , Maddie jumped on me and hugged me , telling me how she was proud of me. I was searching for my chemistry textbook in my locker when the speaker in the hallway turned on and someone spoke into it. "This is the school counselor, Sarah Cole. Miss Dahlia Grande , please report to the school counselor's office immediately. I repeat , Miss Dahlia Grande, report to the school counselor's office immediately. " I frowned. Why was the school counselor looking for me?

I said and the counselor smiled. "It's already late and I'm going home also. You may leave now," the counselor said. "Thanks again." I stood up and make my way out of the guidance office. I can smell something fishy on this school counselor but it's alright. Either she will strictly make her daughter, Althea, and Melanie do the punishment or let them get away from it, I don't care. As long as they won't hurt me again, it would be fine. "Elaine, what happened?" Lesley asked me. She and Jackson were waiting for me here outside the guidance office.

Her tone was laced with unquestionable arrogance. “Impossible! Check again! He’s Zephyr Golding, the valedictorian of our high school. He has to be here!” She was convinced that no matter how angry I might be, I would not dare to actually skip orientation. Could I even survive without her, Eula? I was just throwing a tantrum. I was probably hiding in some corner. I was waiting for her to find me, then I would cry and beg for her forgiveness. A flash of displeasure crossed the orientation counselor’s face.

Usually when someone says, 'yippee! It's the beginning of a new semester,' I'm like yeah! This is going to be so boring!!! Same old bullies, miss popularity and Mr. charming walking around causing trouble and breaking hearts... But this year, things are going to be a lot different. See it's my last chance to make a name for myself, leave my legacy behind and all that crap. Well at least that's what my guidance counselor suggested. In the past I've been known as the weird, quiet type voted most likely to be forgotten after graduation.

[POV: Lewis] (Location: Edinburgh) The school counsellor's name was Mrs. Gallagher. She met them in the corridor outside her office at half past nine, the drawing already in her hand, and she led them inside before saying anything beyond good morning. The room was small and deliberately neutral — two low chairs, a plant, a box of tissues on the table. She sat across from them and placed the drawing face-up between them without preamble. Lewis looked at it.

She wasn't used to being lectured. Sitting in the guidance counselor's office, listening to Mr. Weaver drone on and on about her grades and her attendance, Lacy wanted to scream. All these adults -- her teachers, her counselors, her mom -- couldn't shut up about school and college and homework, but she was sick of it. She was tired of being the flawless, model student -- straight A's, honor roll, perfect attendance. She just wanted to enjoy her childhood.
