As they stepped through the gates, the chaos of the park unfolded around them, fog machines hissing across the pathways, costumed actors leaping out at unsuspecting visitors, the high-pitched creak of rollercoasters overhead, and the mingling scents of fried food and fake blood.
“Okay, which first?” Zoe asked, spinning in a circle as she took it all in. “Rollercoasters? Haunted house? Cotton candy?”
“Cotton candy,” Chloe said instantly, her eyes on a vendor with enormous pastel swirls of sugar on sticks.
