I closed my eyes again and buried my head into the fluffy pillow. I felt like I was floating in the water, so relaxed, heavenly, and mesmerized. "Mr. Sandros, Mr. Jedrick asked me to escort you to him." a lady knocked at my door. I sunk further into my bed and made myself comfortable.

Looking at the gloomy rain, I sighed, figuring we wouldn't get many guests. Just then, someone rushed in. I hurried to greet them. "Welcome! Are you here for a room-" I stopped short - it was Adeline! She'd lost weight, cut her hair short, and had a new scar on her face. Her eyes welled up when she saw me. "Henry, I finally found you." "Why are you here? This isn't a shelter - you've got the wrong place!" I kept my face cold. Adeline froze, shaking her head. "No! That's not it!"

“Wait… is that?” “The bloody bullet I shot him with. He turned it into a stupid necklace and now I can't get it off because it has no clasp!!!” I growled. Delilah ran out of the toilet. “Ms Adelaide, please you have to calm down.” She pleaded. I snarled at her. “How would you like it if you had a leash around your neck?!” She kept quiet, staring at me, a wary look on her face. Madison, on the other hand, was simply sitting in a corner and slowly savoring her Apple juice. What was she doing?

Chapter 1 Alice’s POV I was shot in the chest, blood trickling from my mouth. And the one who held the gun…was the man I loved. My eyes widened, instinctively clutching my chest. I crumpled to the ground, laying helplessly beside Nancy, my maid, who was shot clean in the head while trying to protect me. Involuntary tears streamed down my face as regret, unwillingness and bitterness washed over me. “If only second chances existed,” I thought to myself. “I’ll make them pay.” Then, darkness swallowed me.

"The astrologer said, as soon as you sign here, your stars will immediately align with Charlie's. You… You have to sign… Please." I took the pen without hesitation and signed my name. As I finished the final stroke and lifted my gaze, I met Adrian's venomous gaze. I could see it clearly now—the signs of his decline were written on his face, darker and more defined than ever before. "Claire… Milton… You bitch, how dare you betray me!" he roared. He was about to lunge at me when his body suddenly froze. He clutched his chest, and his face contorted in agony. Then, he coughed up a torrent of crimson blood.

She opened her eyes and held her chest, desperately gasping for air while looking at him in total confusion. Marky stood in front of her, his entire face flushed red, his palms trembling, and his eyes staring at her with a mixture of anger, shock, and intense disbelief. "What did you say, Adel?!" his voice echoed in the quiet courtyard of the mansion. "What did you just call me?!" Adeline blinked. It was as if the illusion created by her mind had suddenly torn apart. Adeline was stunned. Her lips trembled while her entire body ran cold with intense fear and guilt.

Shit. "Are you okay?" Adeline asks, voice shaky. "Yeah. I'm good." I stand up and look over at the brave woman beside me. "Are you?" She nods and I turn my attention back to the intruder, drop down beside him and press two fingers against his thick neck. No pulse. With a grimace, I stand back up, grab my gun, and walk into the kitchen to wash my hands. Adeline hurries after me. "I-is he dead?"

Adeline’s pov I tried not to cry again. This was something my tear ducts were used to, it was almost a routine to watch it dry up and so I sucked in the tears and thought happy thoughts. Thoughts that comprised of the good old earlier days. Looking back to the sequence of events which brought me to that house of brooding mystery, of sinister undercurrents and disturbing echoes. I sat on a wooden bench I had found as I became lost in thought all alone in the darkness.

I tightened my grip on Chloe's hand. Adeline grabs a rather greasy-looking prisoner at the beginning of the line and smiles before plunging the knife she is holding into the top of his head. Chloe gasps, and I cover my mouth so my scream of horror doesn't escape. The other prisoners in line begin to beg but the siblings ignore them. They act as if they can't even hear them begging for forgiveness.
