Curse of the Hallow Moon
Anything to fight the cries.
I plug my phone in, open Spotify and put on the gym playlist that is as ancient and untouched as most fossils. Van Halen’s ‘Jump’ fills the room.
But the cries still squeeze my brain, poke my heart. They’re a long, sustained pitch.
I grab the eyeball, open the curtains, then the window, and throw the eyeball out of my life.
I slam the window shut and close the curtains, but the cries and screams continue.
“Stop it!” I open the minibar and drink everything in there. Gin, whisky, wine. All of it.
