Here I come. “Young Lady, Amber.” The sound of my last name coming from my left stops me. I stare at Von Hades or Hades, as I like to call him. He is a member of the top class and a monarch, who serves as the primary liaison between the chambers and the clan. He plays a significant part in maintaining harmony among the four chambers and ensuring that they are profitable for the nation. I only have faith in Hades among the elite group, or more specifically, I have faith in his loyalty. He was admitted by his father and advanced through the ranks to become who he is now. Like me, he wants to keep the East name in the ruling position.

In the corner of the room, a single ember in a wall-crack flared, then guttered, like a witness flinching. Then, slowly, he let his grip ease. His thumb dragged along her lower lip, smearing a crumb away. “This intruder,” he said, voice low and dangerous, “is brave.” “Or stupid,” Adelaide muttered, barely audible. “Or Emberborn,” he added. Her gaze flickered uncertainly. “What’s an Emberborn?” Apollo paused.

"All this assumes you even make it through the journey." I frowned at her. "What do you mean?" "The place you're going is called Ember Hallow. People have sought answers there, but only a handful have returned. Those who do are often changed, not themselves anymore. Some go mad, others are forever silent. Ember Hallow isn't for the faint of heart. The answers you find might break you, or they might make you. " She shrugged. "You can't know." "I see," I said, turning back to the men and offering them a smile. "And that's what you guys were arguing about, yes?" I asked, the smile still on my face.

"You think you're the master of games? How does it feel to be outsmarted twice?" Hades grinned, his huge sharp teeth glinting evilly. "You think you've outsmarted me?",he asked and let out a deep evil laughter. Henrietta stared at him warily, her eyes and ears alert. She held the vial tight in her arms, listening as the devil's laughter echoed loudly around the forest. In her slight distraction, she didn't notice Emrys walking towards her stealthily. His bright blue eyes had turned completely red, black veins latched around the lids. In his hand, there was a sharp dagger.

“Hard pass.” “Damn,” Hayden whispered, delighted despite himself. “She’s not wrong.” Hades didn’t even glance at his cousin. His focus was a physical thing, a hand pressed flat against my sternum, and I hated how much my body wanted to lean into it. “I wasn’t going to claim you,” he said. “I was going to introduce myself. Like a person.” “Oh, forgive me. My mistake. Very normal way to introduce yourself, by the way — motorcycle, leather jacket, main-character entrance in front of four hundred witnesses.”

“She’s a hybrid.” Chris was dumbfounded at what he heard. Kean must be joking, right? “Are you joking right now? It’s not the right time to joke around, Kean?” Chris pursed his lips. Kean chuckled. “I wish this was just a joke, but it’s not, dad. Ember said that in front of all the alphas of Devonlaire. She’s a part witch, and a part werewolf. She’s not Arnulf’s daughter and she was the last descendant of the white wolf.”

From what Madraya saw, there was no denying that this woman was the last and fourth commander of stealth. For a girl so young, her achievements far surpass everything. Ember has been rumored to never lose a war, or even an assassination. That’s why she was named a Stealth. Cause that was the only thing that could comprehend the power inside her. Luna Zyrah let out a fragile breath, her body shuddering slightly before she slipped back into unconsciousness. Ember exhaled slowly, reaching out to brush away the tears that had trailed down their mother’s pale cheeks. The weight of those tears pressed heavy on her chest. The room was silent for a moment with unspoken grief. But then Caden stood abruptly, his chair scraping against the floor. Ember barely had time to register the movement before his voice cut through the stillness, furious. “You’re entangled with him.” Ember’s fingers twitched at her sides, her jaw clenching.
