Didn’t need to. Huddled up. Called the play—simple screen pass to the slot receiver. Snap. Ball in my hands. Quick release. Eight yards. First down. The sideline erupted—helmets clanging, guys shouting, Coach pumping a fist. I didn’t smile. Just jogged back to the huddle, eyes already on the next set. The drive ended in a field goal. Three points. Not nothing. Not enough. Halftime came too fast—17-10, us. Locker room was loud—coaches yelling adjustments, guys hyping each other up, music thumping from someone’s speaker. I sat in my stall. Drank water. Checked my phone quick, against protocol.

Part of me wanted to ignore her, but another part wanted to respond. Movement caught my eye. Michael was walking toward us, however his face was flushed and angry. Sara immediately ran to him. "You were amazing! That goal was so cool!" But Michael didn’t smile or acknowledge her. His eyes were locked on me. I frowned and lowered my phone. "Is the game over already?" "It's halftime," Michael said flatly. "Not that you'd know. You're not even paying attention." "What? Of course I am. I just saw your touchdown-"

Just two minutes of being someone who needed to stop before starting again. Then I stood up. I unlocked the door and walked back down the corridor and out to the sideline and Mia was there and she looked at me once and said nothing. "How long do we have?" I asked. "Four minutes," she said. "Good. Make sure everyone is ready." The second half played out. The Wolves found the rhythm they had been building toward all game and Liam took the opportunities the offensive line gave him and with seven minutes to go the Wolves were ahead by six and the opposing team's last drive came up short and the final whistle went.

They were singing the happy birthday song and was very happy clapping our hands because finally Felix the handsome boy is already turning one. After they sang the song and Betty and Felix was about to blow both the candle and someone was trying speak with Betty in the group. Betty turned her head to the one who speak up and didn't notice that her hair was already burning with the lit candle on the cake of Felix. One of their relatives saw it and she shouted. "Bettttyyy! Your hair is burning with fire!" The time stand still while Betty was being shocked and she kinda open her mouth because of shock but can speak a word.
