The heat prickled on my skin. Kamari drew another arrow and aimed it at his heart. He stopped screaming the moment the weapon pierced him and he fell to the ground. Dead. “The coast is clear,” Halle said, blood on the side of her lips as she pulled back her claws. She was a shapeshifter. “For now,” Kamari stated, gesturing towards the throne. “You said you had an idea?” Right! I rushed over and knelt beside the throne. My hands studied the diamond combinations I had seen earlier.

I offered smoothly, trying to defuse the bomb before it blew. “You will do no such thing, my dear! Halle, apologize to everyone at this table or leave right now!” Mrs. Reyes ordered, her gaze bouncing between me and her defiant younger daughter. “I don’t even have an appetite anymore. I'm going to my room,” Halle muttered, storming off toward the stairs while mumbling under her breath. Though she was far away, I caught the tail-end of her bitter muttering: “...Stupid introductions every time, yet they never stay anyway...”

Kim's head flew back before she flopped to the side. My eyes slammed shut as I shook my head. I couldn't cry. Not now. I would cry later. Kim was dead. One down. One to go. I had to finish this. Tanya was still staring up at the sky when I aimed at her forehead. Just before I pulled the trigger, Tanya's deep blue eyes shot to mine. It didn't stop me. I was glad Tanya looked at me. She lay there until she was sure that the person was gone. Immediately she noticed that he was outta sight, she came out from the bed with cautious steps and went outside to peep, to see what was going on. Lots of dead bodies lay on the floor, people were murdered in cold blood that brought shivers down her spine. She couldn't believe that Beta Derek was so wicked that he didn't care about shedding innocent people's blood just for the throne. I couldn't believe how much my father trusted and respected him and yet he turned out to be our worst nightmare.

Andy, on the other end of the line, said something when Gwen’s face instantly turned pale. After a while, she hung up. She looked at Luna closely. “Hailey Walter is dead. She jumped off a building.” Luna felt every ounce of her muscle stiffened. Hailey Walter… was dead? She killed herself? Luna retreated a few steps back.
