He cut himself off, his pupils dilating as he sniffed slightly, his eyes looking down towards his chest, and following an invisible line out and away from his heart.
“You too?” I breathed, and he furrowed his brow, still looking down at the thread that only he could see.
“It’s sunset on the solstice. New year for the fairies. A time of new beginnings and the only day of the year we can find our fated mate,” he told me monotonously, his feet already carrying him away from us and out towards the courtyard.
