Jake leaned in to kiss her, it was killing him knowing he had to leave her. “I have something for you,” he said, taking a small box from his pocket. “What is it?” she asked, opening the box when he handed it to her. Using her fingers she traced it. “It’s a necklace, hearts.” “That’s right, lift up your hair and I’ll put it on you.” He placed it around her neck. “I wanted to give you something to show you how much I love you. Two hearts joined as ours are.”

The hooves of our horses awaken some of the people of my pack, causing them to peek out their windows and doors to see what the commotion is about. Before long, we reach the courtyard of the palace and begin to dismount. After a quick debriefing, I release the men to go home to get some rest.
