She tugged the band out of her shoulder length brown hair, running her fingers through it. The young woman then moved over to her bed where on the nightstand, was a very worn copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. She got comfortable on her bed, picked up the book and started to read. She got through about 10 pages before there was a knock on her door. "Come in!" Lena called. She glanced at the door when it opened and fellow sorority sister, Casey Grant, walked in.

I leaned over and brought it out. Dusting away the dirt on it, I glanced at the book. Its cover was black leather, etched with sigils that pulsed faintly as if alive. “Spell of forbidden magic,” I read out loud. Dark magic. Forbidden magic. It was the same kind of spell I was sure Darius used on me.

He barks out a laugh, making me jump in surprise. "What kind of witch are you? Can you not read?" My cheeks heat up more, but now from anger. "I can read!" "Really." He flips the book shut before leafing through the first few introductory pages. "'Demonology'." "What?!" I rip the book out of his hands.
