All three professors went very still when they saw the claim sigil. "Who did this?" the silver-haired professor demanded. "I don't know for sure. But I think it's connected to the dark figure that's been appearing." "Describe this figure." I told them everything. The attacks, the otherworld appearances, the warnings about consuming souls. When I finished, the Headmaster and the professors exchanged worried looks.

The heavy thud of the door at the front of the room cut through the chaos. Professor Hecateus strode in. He was an older man, his robes a chaotic mix of all four house colors, his beard long and tangled with bits of dried herbs. He looked like he hadn't slept since the late nineties. He tossed his satchel onto the mahogany podium and looked out at the riotous classroom. "Why is that girl from Terra sounding like a clogged drain?" he asked, his voice a rasping croak. "Professor!" a Terra student from the front row shouted. "It's Lumira! She cursed Ivy! She didn't even chant! It was a silent spell!"

As I sat down, I felt calmer than I had ever since I’d come here. The professor walked in moments later. He was tall and thin. He had silver hair that was pulled back neatly. His eyes looked observant. He started the lecture without wasting time. “Today,” he said, “we will discuss advanced magical theory and creature lore. Specifically, the balance between magic, instinct, and survival.” I leaned forward then opened my notebook.

The man was dressed in a hooded cape, dark-green, with long, dishevelled, slightly grey hair. “We got to the other side ... or as we call it, the Enchanted and Unusual Land of the renowned Elmbridge School of Magic, where you will learn about magical transformations, spells and special and unusual incantations.
