My hand shake a little and my vision blured for a moment. I shook myself and ground myself into reality. Adeline had cigarette burn marks on her arms, the gruesome scene was bloody as they were fresh and first photos of the crime scene, her lips blue and her eyes bulged out. I heard a can fell down, resulting in a loud noise, I looked at the place to see that it was Adeline who caused the noise.

Andrew emerged from the narrow passageway, scanning the area with narrowed eyes, but Adeline was nowhere to be found. Frustration bubbled up inside him, and he hurled the gun he held at the wall. “Damn it,” he muttered to himself. “How could I let her escape like that?” As he tried to calm his nerves, a familiar scent reached his nose—blood, Adeline’s blood. His head snapped in the direction the scent was coming from. Glancing down, he noticed a trail of blood leading into the forest.

Adeline’s pov I tried not to cry again. This was something my tear ducts were used to, it was almost a routine to watch it dry up and so I sucked in the tears and thought happy thoughts. Thoughts that comprised of the good old earlier days. Looking back to the sequence of events which brought me to that house of brooding mystery, of sinister undercurrents and disturbing echoes. I sat on a wooden bench I had found as I became lost in thought all alone in the darkness.

Her eyes became distant. "Once you're gone, he'll have no choice but to come back to me." Adaline stared directly into her eyes. "No." Camilla's smile vanished. "Ronan will never be with you."
