"Addie," Josie called again, softer this time.
"Let her be, Josephine." Miranda’s voice rang out.
"If she wants to rush off in the rain, fine. That’s why she’s here, isn’t it? If she fails that test, her scholarship will be gone. Isn't that right, Adeline?"
"Miranda!"
“Mom!” James and Josie said at the exact same time.
