I never texted Alex for a very obvious reason and I only had her number because my mom forced me to. Ever since, I had it saved on my phone and never used it, not even once. She also had mine and never texted me either so I guess it was just something neutral. I never imagined that this day would come, when I would pick up my phone myself and be the first to text.

Last night, Grayham had mentioned that he was going to text me because he had all his phone numbers by heart but then I was yet to hear from him from both phones. I was starting to worry. He responded. I was nervous at first that he would decline because I am being such a needy pig. I didn't even look at his name before texting him. Him: Sure. Where? A grin formed on my face and I texted the address. 'See you there.' I added then ordered a taxi.

I walk out of the school into the brisk spring air and breathe, filling my lungs till they’re near bursting, and choke when I attempt to exhale. My phone buzzes repeatedly, but I ignore it like usual. My mom, Leona, never texts me. She always calls. It’s a new rule we have. “She had confirmed she’d be down for tonight. I texted her again a few minutes later and she suddenly canceled with explanations. She isn’t taking my calls anymore.” The silence between us stretched for a while. “Let me try her.” “Do that.” I hung up, tapping my pen against the desk as I waited for an update from him. I was impatient. I’d been responding to emails before I texted her again, but I totally forgot about it after I received her cancellation text. It was abrupt and out of nowhere, catching me off guard. Two minutes later, my phone rang. It was Nikolai. I didn’t hesitate to answer. “Well?”

To me, it was wall-to-wall thirst traps, even if they were technically stars, family, friends, and an obscene number of shirtless photos. I liked all of them without shame. My thumb flew over the screen, tapping heart after heart. He messaged me first and wrote, “Hello, how’s your weekend going?” The familiarity of it made me smile. It was the exact first text I had sent him months ago. The one he had never answered back then. I understood why he had kept such a strict professional line. Still, a small irrational part of me had been hurt that he waited so long. I knew the reasons, but that did not stop the feeling. This man had already turned my head inside out, and now it was his turn.
