"Get under the blanket. I will be back in five minutes." He goes downstairs. I strip down to nothing. Slide under the wool. The bed is wide enough that I can starfish across the middle, and I do, because I want to. The blanket is heavy and warm and smells like the pine chest it was stored in. He returns with kindling and a copper kettle. I’m starting to feel a bit nervous. "What’s the kettle for?" "Patience, baby." He kneels at the stove. Lays the kindling. Strikes a match.

“Are you sure?” “Mm-hm.” She nodded. “Okay…?” He stood up and walked back to the couch. He turned off the room lights leaving the lamp on. “Just turn it off when you feel like it.” He said to her. “Okay.” She said slowly. He put the blanket over his head and laid down. She put her head on the pillow and dragged the blanket to her chin. She held her phone in her hand, flickered the lamp off, turned on the flashlight, and quickly put on the blanket over her head. “That was close.” She exhaled slowly and kept laying like that.

It's almost like pulling the day's weight over your head. I jump on my bed and flip the switch on the night lamp beside me,turning it off. "Good night Troy." I mumble to myself. * I wake up to the sound of deafening sirens blaring out of the security alarm systems. I snap my eyes open and pull the covers away from my body. The security bulb in my room is blinking a red light,corresponding with the sounds disturbing the entire building. It's going to be blinking that same way in every other room as well.

But it was too late. The room was sealed. And then the lights dimmed. Not all at once. One by one. Each fluorescent strip overhead blinked, buzzed, and died. Until only emergency red filled the air. Like blood under water. Jace didn’t flinch. He looked up at the last flickering light and said, “Well-played.” Then he laughed. It wasn’t loud. But it echoed far. --- Upstairs, Emilia monitored the thermal feed. “Four heat signatures confirmed. Fifth intermittent.”

Three marks could not be good for her, not with the black lines coming out of Blakes. Her body continued to tremble. Wrapping her back up, I climb onto the bed next to her. Pulling her body close to me. Hoping that she could feel my heat. That my heat and my comfort would be enough to make her feel better. She continued to shiver, her body rattling as though she was in subzero temperatures. Even after grabbing more blankets, she just didn’t seem to be warming up. She was almost ice cold to touch. I couldn’t wait any longer. Lana was getting worse. I needed the pack doctor.

And maybe I should wear more layers; a thin oversized shirt isn’t exactly helping the situation. I snuggle under the blankets and notice that William is shivering slightly; his part of the blanket has slipped to his torso. It must be a really, really cold night if it’s affecting us both like this. I pull the blanket back over him and his eyes flutter open. “It’s cold.” I nod, taking my eyes off the exposed part of his chest that’s bathed in the soft orange glow of the candles. “Yeah, the heater is down.” “You’re awake.” He states, his voice rough and sleepy.

Not blinking. Something really isc razy. I feel it deep in my bones.

He took out what looked like reading glasses except they had flickering lights on the glass screen. “I call this the light shades.” said Ben. “Let me guess, because they have light’s on them right?” I asked. Ben chuckled. “no no no! They don’t just have light’s on them, infact put them on and tell me what you see.” Ben Instructed. I did just as he had asked. “what do you see?” “How is this possible I can see so many things, your heart rate, your body temperature, your health status, what looks like a blueish shadow surrounding you, what is that?”

"You have to tell me your needs from today on. No more hiding. I'll take you out or leave you with your friends when you get bored and we can take a small walk when you want exercise. Do you get it baby?" I hummed. Bright shifted behind me and I felt warmth spreading around my back. I moaned in comfort when the hot water bag touched my paining areas. "Feeling good?" he asked. I nodded resting my head on his chest. Bright steadied the hot water bag from behind and he slowly pulled up my oversized t-shirt. Without questioning him I raised my hands and he carefully pulled it off. I shuddered when cold air hit my bare skin. Bright quickly wrapped the blanket up to my chest.

Blaze took the light purple blanket, there are some lavender motifs that decorated the blanket with the fragrance of flowers. “I like to make my dreams come true! Especially…. Especially when that dream relates to you!” He said then returned to kiss me deeply. I let him, even as his hands roam under my shirt and touch my most intimate body part… I'm just silent, I let Blaze… and I enjoy it?
