We promise to live up to your expectations.” He kissed my feet. Cripes! But we let him embrace us. The goddess spoke. “Brother alpha of the Fallen Moon Pack, rise and know that you are blessed. Know that you have been judged and found worthy. Your luna has been judged and found worthy of my blessings as well. Together, you shall rule in peace and prosperity.”

It’s as if the air was being sucked out of her lungs the more, she looked at this man. “What do you mean blessed?” She walked towards him, standing beneath him because he was at a higher platform than on where she was. The man was actually younger than she thought. Perhaps a few years younger than Ruan. Is he the priest? “Being blessed by the Luna Goddess was known to bring benefits to anyone. They will surely have unique powers and privileges. Yet, none actually know that being ‘blessed’ is actually a result of experiencing too much pain that no one might be able to endure.”

But GoldMoon just confirmed that she did not bless Hera. “Princess, what did she say?” Buppig asks, having been watching closely trying to follow the conversation from just my side being voiced out loud. “She says that she did not bless Hera.” I say, my eyes never leaving GoldMoon. “That can’t be true, Shield. You laid your forehead against Hera’s. If that’s not a blessing, I don’t know what is.” Buppig says, looking at GoldMoon. She looks at Buppig and I swear she gives him an amused smile.

“Jade Sterling, I hereby grant you the protective powers of my blood to serve you in the afterlife as a member of the Grey lair, to fulfill your journey as a beacon of light to others.” “We now pray for the blessings of our gods to grant passage to their children seeking refuge from the darkness. He was too scared to say a word even when his own wife was being offered up to serve the divine tree. … The next day, a few muscular men brought a sedan chair to the village before dawn broke on the horizon. According to the rules, the woman had to be blindfolded when she was delivered to the divine tree to prevent the location of the tree from being exposed. "Drink this, Hailey," David said as he offered me a bowl of black liquid. I took the bowl from him. The strong, herbal scent stung my nose. "What is this?" "It's to calm your nerves, so you won't feel as much pain later," David explained with bright eyes.

"Please, Rainie, we were wrong before. We shouldn’t have believed that monster!" "As long as you can save my wife, I’ll give you everything I own!" I let out a quiet sigh. "Come with me." I brought them back to my place in the mountains and handed out the holy water I had prepared earlier. "Take this back and have your wives drink it. In three days, the children in their wombs will return to normal." I paused, then added coldly, "But remember this, during those three days, they must not be injured or bleed. Even during the day sometimes, you can see it.” “That’s…” I stared at them. “That’s not possible.” “We have witnesses,” Darius said. “Half the pack has noticed it by now.” “Which is another reason everyone’s so confident about the ceremony,” Kael added. “The moon already recognizes you. The official blessing is just a formality.” I set down my fork, suddenly not hungry anymore. “What if it doesn’t work? What if the Goddess doesn’t, ” “Hey.” Zane’s hand found mine, warm and steady. “That’s not going to happen.”

What kind of blessing? “What do you mean?” I asked in confusion, looking around as I tried to find the person who was speaking. “Fated mates are not meant to be separated.” The voice continued. “It’s a blessing created by the heavens given for you to cherish.” “How can I fix it?” I asked, not knowing who I was speaking to. But if that person could give me a solution, then I am willing to try. “Do the right thing.” And then the light disappears, leaving me in the dark once again.
