Victor didn’t even touch the envelope. Instead, he let out a sharp laugh and shook his head.
“A bribe, Tyson? That’s all you’ve got? You sound just like Grant. Worse, even, desperate, clinging to scraps of power. And men like you…” He leaned forward, his smile razor-sharp. “…men like you end up exactly like him. Humiliated. Forgotten.”
The words landed like a blow. Tyson’s jaw tightened, but instead of snapping back, he let the silence stretch. When he finally spoke, his voice was low, heavy with a mixture of rage and grief.
