He didn’t look at me when I entered, but I felt him all the same—like gravity.
The council members formed a half circle around him.
Judgment.
“Lyra Hale,” one of the elders said, his voice sharp as stone. “Step forward.”
I did.
Every step felt like walking into a storm.
“Since your arrival,” another councilwoman continued, “you have disrupted the balance of this pack.”
I laughed before I could stop myself.
The sound echoed.
Ronan turned then.
His eyes met mine—dark, unreadable, dangerous.
The councilwoman frowned. “Do you find this amusing?”
