The first shot rang out, going wide and hitting a piece of metal somewhere to my left.
“Great aim, sharpshooter,” I muttered, yanking the first guy’s body up as a human shield. The next shot hit him square in the chest, and I grimaced. “Sorry, pal, you’re in the wrong line of work.”
Before the shooter could get another round off, I swung my new “shield” into him, knocking the gun out of his hands. He stumbled back, arms flailing, and I didn’t hesitate. I grabbed the discarded weapon, aimed it at both of them, and pulled the trigger.
