I finished another drink, then walked into the pack house, needing to breathe away from everyone.
Victoria’s scent hit my nostrils; blood mixed with fear. I froze for a heartbeat, just long enough to understand who stood over her. Sylvia. I bolted in her direction. Sylvia was standing there, Victoria on the floor, bleeding, anger and jealousy burning in Sylvia’s glare. I growled as Sylvia lunged to strike again, her knife flashing in the candlelight. The blade went into my chest as I covered Victoria’s body.
Stupid man, Sylvia said, laughing. I will kill her eventually. Before everything went dark, I saw Raya and Sylvia dragging her behind.
