The Alpha has it. The first book had left its readers including me in a cliffhanger. I had always wanted to know what happened next on the journey of the main character. Actually it was not really about the world’s history, but it is just about the character travelling to different places in different times, discovering treasures, witnessing wars, anything that happened significantly on the year he had travelled on. And though it is a fictional story, it still has a touch of true world history in it, depending on where the character went and what time.

He would have, right? I shook my head again and concentrated on the book placed on my lap. It was one of the British, historical romance fictions set during the World War Two. I had randomly picked it up at the bookstore and somehow felt myself drawn towards it. Sappy novel with mopey dialogues and dragged out bits, it still provided me with much needed solace.

The air was heavy with the scent of parchment and dust, the large shelves stretching high up to the ceilings, stacked with books too old to even remember their authors. I ran my fingers along the spines of the books, scanning the titles. Ancient Clan Wars. The First Kingdoms. Blood and Silver: The History of Alpha Dynasties. None of these were what I needed. I sighed, moving deeper into the archives. There had to be something here. I spent hours flipping through books, scanning old texts, piecing together fragments of history that barely made sense. Just when I was about to give up, my fingers brushed against a large, worn-out book hidden behind several others.

“But immediately you feel better, I’m taking you down here. What kind of books do you like? Fiction, non-fiction or historical?” “Any really, but mostly historical.” I replied in a more cherry voice. Her excitement is starting to rub off on me. “Ooohh, which books have you read? I bet you that I know.” “Lycan history mostly.” Her smile broadened. “I have just what you would love.”

We do still eat together in the dining room in the evening, all of us, from time to time, but a lot of times I will excuse myself and not go at all. Managing to get to the library is no problem. I do know that many of the other girls read, or pretend to, so I can’t spend too much time in here. If I can find a book or two about Maddox’s ancestry, I can take them back to my room and read them there. The historical nonfiction section of the library is one of the larger areas, so it may take me a while to find what I’m looking for. "I love exploring new genres. It's like entering different worlds without leaving the comfort of your room. But I’m going to stick with my sci-fi.” I said, it sounded like a joke and Brenda laughed about it. “Have you ever tried reading historical fiction? Echoes of Time is one of my favourites." Excitement danced in my eyes. “Yes, I've read that one too. The way it weaves history and fiction together is pretty good. Do you enjoy the historical aspects as much as the story itself?"

The usual genres one would expect to find at a book fair, too: history, fiction, non-fiction, folklore, fantasy, fairytales… everything. I had wondered and hoped that I could find the fiction book about the female alpha, but there was nothing of the sort to be found.
