I lost the best damn thing that could've happened to me. I placed my hand in my hoodie pocket and walked away. Why couldn't I tell Audrey that Haylee meant so little? Why couldn't I tell Audrey I want her and not anyone else? I felt my back pocket and heaved a sigh of relief when I felt the thing I needed the most: my cigarette packet. I sat on a bench and started smoking. I wanted to laugh at the encouraging words the box had put out there for smokers. SMOKING KILLS. I can bet my whole house that smokers do know that. But do we care? No. No, we don't.

The last time Min-a smoked the devil lettuce was sometime three years ago, it wasn't in his best interest but he did it anyway. “Have you ever smoked weed before?” Ji-ho snatched it from his hands, taking one out of the bag and handing it to him, before taking one for herself. “Yeah. But it's been a long time..” Min-a sniffed the blunt, “a really long time.” He added. “Well, when I want to abstain from alcohol, I take weed. I would have been a junkie if weed wasn’t such a problem here.” Ji-ho mumbled the last part as the blunt already sat between her lips, lighting it up.

But Calvin just shot him a cold glare, instantly putting out his enthusiasm. Henry smirked sarcastically, pulled a cigarette from the case on the table, stuck it between his lips, and took a deep drag—only to choke immediately. “Shit, is this thing spiked?” Calvin was clean when it came to substances. He smoked, but not excessively. Occasionally, he indulged in cigars, but he never touched anything harder. Lately though, he’d switched things up—choosing a strong Russian cigarette, completely unlike his usual style. Tapping his long finger on the carton, he said,

He sighed and leaned against the counter beside him and threw one foot over the other. Could he for once not talk about her at least? Maybe if I told him I smoked too, he would find interest in me and find my plain eyes mesmerizing? Maybe find me fascinating? "I smoke too," He didn't look like he believed me. "But you sounded like you didn't like your friend smoking," "It's a cover up. I still smoke but she doesn't. I hid it from her because I didn't want her to go back to smoking." I replied. Before he could say a word, I asked him. "Hey, do you have a mate?"

Wade knew that Edward was an inveterate smoker deep down although he had never seen him smoke before. Piqued by his curiosity, he said, “Mr. Levin, although cigarettes are bad for your health, it doesn’t hurt to have one or two sticks once in a while. The reason you were prohibited from smoking was due to your poor health condition, Mr. Levin. But your health has improved significantly since then, so I guess it is fine for you to enjoy a stick right now.“

Nestling against his chest, Estelle smelled the faint scents of smoke and cologne. To her surprise, the mixture of the two scents was pleasant to smell. “Sir, did you smoke again?” “You can still smell the smoke? I’m sorry. I smoked a lot just now.” Shaking her head in his arms, Estelle said gently, “It’s okay. You have more problems to deal with than I do, so if you want to smoke to relieve your pressure, just do it. But don’t smoke too much. After all, smoking is not good for your health.”

Luuk continued and left the room, unwilling to listen to Ruben's excuses. Truthfully, Ruben was never one to smoke like a chimney. He never smoked during his marriage with Tess but after she left, he picked up the habit and smoked once in a while, when he felt lost in his emotions. This was the heaviest he had smoked in six years. After that steamy session with Tess, her image in his head became more pronounced. He couldn't forget the taste of her lips. The softness of her skin against his hands when he kneaded her lower half and the wetness that seeped through her clothings onto his crotch.

The smoke wisps traveled up, curling gently before being swept away in a lazy breeze. I turned and found Edward taking a drag from a joint. That scent had been so ingrained in my head that I couldn’t mistake it for anything else, and yet I had never smelled it on him before. There was never any indication Edward smoked dark matter. He used his elbows to prop himself up. A lock of sandy hair fell across his forehead as he regarded me with a buzzed smirk. “Do you smoke?” He held the joint out to me. “It’d help with the pain better than the alcohol will. Probably help you sleep too.”

But also wondered about that damn smoke I saw coming out of the floor at the house. I knew I wasn't imagining it. I saw the smoke go into him, and I knew that there must have been a reason for that. But I didn't know enough about any of this to know what the smoke was. Which left me at a loose end where I couldn't wrap my head around what it meant. Or what it could do. I chewed at my nail, going over what little I did know. Lowell used crystals to keep Lobo locked in that spot. And the smoke came up from the floor, so the only thing that made sense to me was the smoke must have come from hell. But then, Lobo was half demon, which led me back to being confused.

In reality, he seldom smoked on a normal basis since smoking wasn’t a pleasure to him. “The faint smell of tobacco smells good, actually,” Heather suddenly remarked. She recalled the faint smell of tobacco on someone; it occurred so long ago that she had almost forgotten the smell of tobacco mixed with the man’s perfume. She didn’t know why she would think of that person. What seemed to happen a long time ago came into her mind as if it had just happened.
