He lunges, the blade slicing through the air, aimed at my chest, just above my right breast. I recoil, anticipating the agony. The knife bites deep, and I wince my vision blurring. My blood spills, warm and crimson, sliding down my torso. Denzel's eyes gleam with sadistic pleasure. With a twisted grin, he slits open his own rotting hand, revealing festering flesh. He presses his wounded hand against mine, mingling our skin. I scream as my blood blends with his skin, feeling an eerie presence invade my body. It's as if dark entities are awakening within me.

The moon hung low in the sky, casting an eerie glow over the deserted streets. Helena crouched in the shadows, the thick most of the night helping to conceal her, heart pounding with adrenaline as she scanned the area for any sign of movement. The air was thick with the scent of fear and the coppery tang of blood. She knew she was getting closer to her target, a rogue vampire who had been terrorizing the town for weeks.

I left it charging, so they could use it for as long as they wanted, and if what ghost hunters said was true, they could also draw energy from the battery at the same time. The chilling fear gripped her, paralyzing her body and clouding her thoughts. In the pitch-black abyss, Storm’s imagination ran wild. I turned and saw Harmony halfway up the ladder to my bed, half of her body crawling under my mosquito net. Her expression was grotesquely exaggerated, filled with fear as she stared at me. I let out a terrified scream and jumped upright from my bed in shock. The following scream came from Harmony, louder than mine, and then there was a crash as she fell off my bed, landing hard on the floor.

I was glad I won’t stand out too much. We arrive at Xander’s house after a few minutes. His house was more of a dark side kind of house. It was gothic and gave you the creeps. Old cold men stood as statues lining up the way to the front door. Music thumped inside the house. It felt like a high school monster party. Okay maybe I watch too much Ant farm and paranormal movies. This would be a good beginning for a horror story where Zombies come attacking. No, zombies don’t have brains to plot this. Better yet, Vampires.

After a few minutes more the candle lights came on again while the owls returned. I waited to watch in alert and zero seconds. The new vampires stood up in their immortal forms, all in a separate species from the other. They were all physically different. The first one looked very similar to the joker, only this one had fangs, longer nails, a deadly face that made him look like an angry bat, short, red-skinned, and a very huge head. I quickly recognized that one to be the night prowler. He was of the Yara-ma-yha-who breed. An ancient breed common in Japan.

I whispered, almost pleading. “Because it’s in here with us now.” I heard the door to the classroom click shut. All the air was sucked out of my lungs and I felt the panic set in. The darkness felt suddenly alive all around me and I pressed the boy farther into the table. Then I heard it. The slightest sound of air. I could hear it breathing. The pungent smell of earth decay, and something worse wafted off out of the darkness towards us. It smelled like death.

She threw back the covers and hurried to the bathroom to ease herself and sighed in relief when she was done. Flushing after herself, she returned to the dark room and climbed into her bed. A light weight on her chest had her switching on the light. The sight she saw sent cold waves through her spine. On her chest facing her was a three year old baby boy. The first thing that stood out to her was his pitch black sclera, red iris and black pupils. Next was the blood that stained his whole face and naked body, and the creepy smile he gave her. "Mama!" Modupe screamed and jumped in terror.
