The long, horror hand of the monster shot forward without warning, wrapping tightly around the blogger’s neck before he could even react. A strangled gasp escaped him. Then the creature’s head forced its way through the doorway. Its jaws stretched unnaturally wide, revealing rows of jagged, bloodstained teeth. Crunch! In a single, horrifying motion, it bit clean through the blogger’s neck. Blood splattered violently across the room, painting the walls and floor in res. Thick green saliva dripped from his fangs with an audible plop and a soft deep growl emitted from him, reverberating through me. His eyes held mine, a bright glowing green, like a poison. My heart raced even faster as fear continued to grow within me. As if he knew what I was feeling, his grin grew even wider, and I saw a crazed look in his eyes. Sometimes, Juana didn't see anything at all, sometimes she saw good things, but most times, she had nightmares. When her granny called to ask about her dream the night after she saw something about avocados, Juana refused to tell her about it because it involved someone dying. The person was dying. Not dead. Tears flowed down her bruised face. She turned towards the door to run for help, but Dovie slammed it shut before she could get there. "Does he still look like just a man?" Her grandfather called out over laboured breaths as he continued electrocuting the man over and over. A spasm of fear crossed her face, and the colour drained from her complexion. She wasn't sure what she was looking at anymore. Hanging from his arms in the middle of the room was a beast, an abomination, a strange wild creature.

Around me, the image seemed to flicker with gray tones, devoid of color or life. The environment unfolded like a labyrinth, where shadow creatures took on the forms of familiar beings, whispering my deepest fears. Some emanated anger, while others sought to degrade me even further. As part of this ominous scenario, I witnessed one of the creatures, assuming the form of the elder Conan, take Harvey's life with a possessive smile. I shuddered, feeling the painful tightness in my heart.

Jeffery leaned forward and sifted through a few files on his desk. When he found the one he was looking for, he slapped it down toward me. Uncrossing my legs, I plucked it off the desk and flipped the front cover open. What greeted me were pictures of dead bodies, all women, with ghastly expressions of horror on their faces. They were frozen in a perpetual scream that had shivers running up my spine. All of them were sallow looking with paper-white skin and their eye sockets sunken in. "What the fuck?" I mumbled.

I whispered to the empty room, my voice trembling with panic. My hand moved frantically over my belly, and I lifted my clothes, revealing a scar that looked as if it had been torn apart and sewn back together. The sight of it sent a shockwave through me, and I screamed, "AHHHHH!" My body reacted violently to the horror. I turned on the bed, scratching at my skin, pulling at my hair, desperate to rid myself of the pain and revulsion. My screams echoed through the room, a raw and primal outpouring of my anguish.

Brandon set his camcorder on a tripod at the other side of the table, almost against the back wall, to keep in frame not only us, but also the loads of documents before us. I blinked several times in an attempt to focus, sucking in my breath when I was finally able to comprehend what I was seeing. "Carmen, don't. Leave those alone," he commanded, quickly heading in my direction. Even with only the light coming from the kitchen to illuminate the glossy photos, it was enough to allow me to realize the horror depicted on every one of them. I jerked one into my hand, trying to keep a rational mind. The photographs were horrible, the scenes of various murders unlike anything I'd seen before, either in real life or on television. I was pulled into a vacuum, my mind unable to process the information completely.

So, I killed him, stashed his phone, and used it to send that murder threat, giving Jacob his opening. Under my conditioning, Jacob was no longer satisfied with torturing animals. He craved human blood, so I gave him the chance, and sure enough, he didn't disappoint me. Jacob's face twisted with mounting terror, and he gasped for air. "Oh, sorry. I almost forgot you are allergic to pollen." I looked at the fresh flowers in the room, stood, and picked up the trash bag. "I guess you rushed out without your meds, right? I'm heading out."
