I'd also throw in 'Something is Killing the Children' by James Tynion IV. It's newer and has a different energy—more tense and brutal. The creatures here are these invisible, predatory things only certain people can see, and the organization that hunts them has its own chilling rules. The horror is graphic and the stakes feel incredibly high from the first issue. It taps into that primal fear of something hunting children, but the lore around the monsters and the hunters is what keeps me hooked.

Horror comics that nail both story and scares are tricky to find. A lot of modern stuff leans way too heavy on gross-out art and shock panels, but the narrative feels like an afterthought.
