It was as if an entity from the depths of his dream had somehow manifested itself into this waking reality. Though frightened, Ronin's curiosity outweighed his fear. If we break the illusions, we can leave.” Mia nodded and responded, “It’s possible.” Herbert then spoke up. “Since it’s an illusion, all attacks are useless. Let me give it a try.” Once again, he entered the passage. This time, he ignored the shadows’ attacks and let them attack him. Nonetheless, his entire body was covered in injuries almost immediately.

Both women froze. Something loomed behind the glass walls, something like shadows stretched too long, shapes distorted, faces not quite human pressed where reflections should be. Eyes where no eyes belonged. Smiles that bent the wrong way. The lights went off again. A scream ripped through the room. “Oh my God— did you see that?” “What was that?!” The lights snapped on again. Closer this time. The images shifted, crawling nearer, filling the room with an oppressive presence. The women didn’t even register each other’s faces, only terror burned into their vision.
