“It's time to wake up, sweetie...” The sun was beginning to rise, but the light didn't bring comfort. It only clarified the nightmare. I looked at the eye again. The pupil didn't dilate or contract. It remained a fixed, black pinprick in a sea of terrifying blue. As my eyes adjusted, I realized the skin around the eye didn't look like skin at all. It looked like wet parchment stretched too tightly over a frame that didn't quite fit. I remembered the "rules" people joked about in horror movies. Don't go outside. Don't answer the door. But what do you do when the monster is already in the hallway, wearing your father’s throat like a stolen garment?

But even more troubling, is the fact a camera pointed at the register inside the gas station picked up a wolf entering the store, tearing through a bullet proof partition, and mauling the clerk to death. I watched as the countdown finished and the tv went blank black. I suddenly got the chills at the way the beginning of the movie was and found myself moving closer to Jordan. Then a girl appeared, she was at a rail station waiting for a train but it was extremely quiet and lonely at the place she was. "Uhmmm.... Jordan" I called out to him, something telling me that he played a horror movie. "Hmm" "Is this a...." Boom Something popped out in front of the camera and a shrieking horrific sound filled the room. I screamed with my heart running away from me. It was beast-like and he slowly stalked towards the girl.

His large hands keeping a tight grip on the gas nozzle as he filled the car. “I’m fine, would prefer to keep myself behind the wheel.” He said, not looking in her direction as he continued to stare down the road. She shrugged at him, and turned to continue whatever new topic of conversation her and Keagan were sharing. I sighed and opened the car door, stepping out and glancing around. The cool air flitted through my dark hair, making my long ponytail wave slightly in the breeze. Daybreak was beginning to shimmer over the tall trees, casting everything in an eerie glow that was only amplified by the lack of people around the small gas station. Feeling a little tired and knowing my night is only just beginning, I run into the gas station for a coffee. The energy is different when I step back outside. A slight breeze blows in from the highway, hot from traffic and smelling like gasoline. The gas station is busy, with almost every pump full. I shift my eyes around, trying to spot the vampires. They have the right to be here, and I almost hate that I automatically go on the defense. I’m almost to the Jeep when I see a woman fleeing from a car. She’s wearing heels, and one strap of her cocktail dress is hanging down around her shoulder. Blood drips down her neck from a vampire bite.

Suddenly, Oliver and Gantz bolted, screaming as if witnessing something horrifying. "A ghost!" screamed one of the women, trying to see what the security guard and the driver were running from. Suddenly, everyone was running in circles, not knowing where to go. The mansion, shrouded in darkness, was not a safe option. Hanna, meanwhile, watched the commotion from among the trees, unable to move as she convulsed with laughter. But the explosion that followed was inevitable: a ghostly laugh echoed through the night, intensifying the terror among those present.

12:30 AM. "My shift is almost over," she murmured, grinning excitedly. The roar of an engine shattered the silence outside the gas station. It was past midnight. The road was empty, the neon glow of the gas station sign flickering above her. She should have felt safe inside the booth, waiting for her shift to end. But the moment the black SUV screeched to a stop in front of the pumps, she knew, it wasn’t good. The doors flung open, and four men stepped out.

I looked into the rear-view mirror and saw dark eyes staring back at me. I screamed. My dumbass too scared that my brain stopped functioning. I didn’t jump out. I didn’t run. I didn’t grab the closest thing I could use as a weapon. I just sat and screamed like some idiot in those stereotypical slasher films.
