Everything seemed fine until her fiancé ran away, and his father had to take her place. Even if she wanted to give up, too much was at stake and there was someone she loved very much and needed to save. Hanna saw no other option but to accept the marriage arrangement with Morgan until her real fiancé, David, returned. Although Hanna was young, her age wasn't attractive enough for Morgan who had a promise on his back that prevented him from getting married, plus the fact that he and his entire family knew that Hanna's family suffered from a rare and destructive disease that could even deform the carrier, none of them could bear the thought of living with Hanna, before they even met her they already repudiated her for her appearance. On discovering that Morgan was repulsed by her, Hanna only intensified his anger and estrangement, making him think that she, like her past relatives, had also inherited the disease, making her a disfigured bride. Now, she is nothing more than a wife rejected by her husband, who sees her as a freak and an ambitious woman who will do anything for money. However, Hanna has far greater desires than money.
더 보기Jessica huddled on the floor, which had been her bed since she was thirteen, trembling from the cold. The heavy winds outside kept blowing the cardboard cut out from the oval window, letting all the frostiness inside and the only things poor Jessica had to cover with were some empty potato sacks which weren't doing a great job of keeping the winter breeze off.
Sleeping on the hard, cold concrete floor only worsened her health, especially with all the dust and chemicals around. She had developed a severe case of pneumonia. If she were a regular girl, she would have died months ago. The strong scent of charcoal and kerosene filled the air, irritating her lungs and making her cough repeatedly as she twisted beneath her makeshift sheets. Having just recovered from yet another coughing episode, her body calmed down but was soon jolted awake when someone kicked her in the stomach. Her amber eyes snapped open to reveal Luna Magda looming over her with a curling iron in one hand and a cane in the other. Jessica coughed to let air back in her lungs, but another kick forced the oxygen back out. The Luna didn't give her a chance to recover as she laid another hard kick to Jessica's gut. "You lazy bag of fleas!" Luna Magda snarled as she struck Jessica with the cane. The omega raised her hands defensively to shield her face from the weapon. The Luna's eyes glared at Jessica with hatred and disgust. "I thought I told you I needed your help to get ready for the Luna's Ball. It's way past 8, and you're still sleeping," she filled her mouth with saliva and spat in Jessica's face. "Useless wolf." Magda's eyes were as cold as ice and her face began to collect wrinkles showing her old age of sixty. She hated being old and she hated any she-wolf that was younger than her. "I—I'm sorry Luna. I overslept," Jessica apologized, struggling to get up but only to be struck by the Luna once more with the stick, sending her body back on the floor. Jessica cursed herself in her head. She should have known better. The summer was over and with autumn came the long nights and short days. During summer, the sun would rise high in the sky by 5 am, and it would be easy for her to wake early. The sunlight would loom in and warm her face and melt the sleep from her body, but now the sun only began to show itself a few minutes after 8, so without a phone or an alarm clock, Jessica relied on her body to wake her up when it was hungry or needed to relieve itself. She should have followed her instincts and not slept at all last night, knowing the risk of sleeping in. "I don't want your apologies. I want your obedience and gratitude," the Luna hissed. "I took you in when that worthless father of yours got himself killed, along with your whore of a mother. And I've been good to you. Haven't I been good to you, Jessica?" The Luna asked, hissing and flashing her dark eyes, showing her dominance. Jessica clenched her fists, scraping up dirt in her fingernails as her hands folded over the floor. She hated the Luna for always speaking ill of her parents. It wasn't their fault hunters killed them. They were just at the wrong place at the wrong time. "Answer me, you filthy mutt!" Luna Magda raised her hand with the stick and smacked it over Jessica's face. It hurt so much, the pain made the omega squeal. A satisfied smile appeared on the Luna's mouth when she saw the welt and blood on the young girl's face. "It doesn't matter whether you answer me or not. The Moon Goddess knows how good I've been to you, so that's why she blessed my three wonderful children with their wolves from an early age. You on the other hand, are sixteen and wolfless because the great Moon Goddess is punishing you for your ungratefulness and your constant disobedience," Luna Magda cackled. "Here," she shoved the curling iron in Jessica's hands. "Take the back entrance and meet me in my chambers in five minutes, and don't be late or else I'll whip you until my hands are tired." "Luna –" Jessica protested, but the Luna cut her off with a slap to the face. "I will not tolerate your mouth today. See you in five," the Luna said as she ran off in wolf speed. The walk from the barn to the back entrance alone would take Jessica five minutes. But surely if she ran and never stops, then to make it to the Luna's chambers would be at least ten minutes. "I'll never make it in time," she mumbled. Not wanting to waste precious time, the little omega girl slipped her feet into her old, tattered leather shoes and ran like the wind.Chapter 186: The Dream of the BeginningThe day of the trip had finally arrived. Hanna would return with her entire family, along with Morgan's family, and, most importantly, Lory, who absolutely did not want to miss this moment. It was still morning when the suitcases were being brought and placed in two cars, but there was still someone who would be traveling with them. Even after all the intrigue, Davis was there. He couldn’t even look Hanna in the eye—not out of disrespect, but after the numerous times he had been to prison and appeared in the newspapers, his dignity was completely shattered; he only had respect left.Rudan, on the other hand, had distanced himself from Davis, maintaining only a friendly relationship, but he still showed up. He parked in front of the Farrugia mansion, but before entering, something caught his attention. He got out of the car and walked toward the woman sitting on a step across the way, in front of the Farrugia mansion."Don't you ever get tired of
Chapter 185: Back to Me"Are you drunk? You already know that I don’t love you anymore, not after you let me be taken by that bastard.""I didn’t think it would get worse. I gave you to him to save you from something worse, but Davis was an idiot...""So letting me go was the only way you found to protect me? Seriously?" she asked skeptically, with teary eyes."At that moment?" He sighed heavily, staring at the ceiling while she rested against his chest. "I was stuck in a wheelchair, couldn’t do anything for you, I didn’t even know if I’d be able to walk again..." he confessed. "Back then, you couldn’t even fight for yourself, not without resources. But money isn’t everything, Hanna. What do you plan to do? Live your whole life alone while our son needs a father figure? When he grows up, he’ll miss me and wish I was around, and I want to be a present father and husband. Just let me do that.""Why?" Hanna muttered indignantly, hitting his chest. He just held her in his arms."Like it o
Cap. 184: A Real Dream"What’s going on?" Gabriel asked as Hanna ran back."Where is he? How could they have disappeared?" she asked desperately, looking to her grandmothers, who were clearing their throats. "You!" she pointed accusingly at the two ladies."But... what do they have to do with it?" Gabriel asked, concerned, heading toward the bedroom."They were acting strange, they were the last ones to enter the room. I left both of them sleeping, and now I’ve lost them..." Hanna muttered, lamenting."No..." Gabriel sighed thoughtfully as he heard the lullaby. "They’re still here, I can hear the crib’s music. They must have moved them somewhere else." Gabriel figured it out as he analyzed where the sound was coming from, then opened the bedroom door, freezing before entering. When Hanna got closer, she almost stumbled backward in shock."How? Is this a dream?" she asked confused as she saw Morgan lying on the bed, sleeping with the newborn baby resting on his chest and his son beside
Chapter 183: Kidnapping Morgan? The two elderly women watched the man with curiosity."What are we going to do? I'm sure it's him, right?" Heydi asked, while Ruby looked around as if she was about to do something suspicious."It's definitely him, and it's clear he's suffering because of that stubborn girl," Ruby said."I've got an idea!" Heydi exclaimed, smiling slyly at Ruby."What crazy scheme is your mind coming up with now? It's already bad enough that we're in a bar," Ruby said, and then she pointed at Morgan, who was unconscious at the bar. He was still mumbling something. They listened carefully and realized he was lamenting something, the death of someone. They kept listening and discovered it was because of his son's death, which made Heydi even more determined to carry out her plan. The two women helped Morgan to his feet, though they nearly collapsed under his weight. They didn’t have the strength to lift such a large man, but they managed to drag him out of the bar, despit
Chapter 168: Before Seeing YouAs soon as she entered the room, Hanna sat at the edge of the bed beside Luna, who kept her eyes closed, seemingly resting. Mr. Ford excused himself, leaving her alone with her friend. Hanna observed Luna in silence, taking in her frail state and the marks of illness on
Chapter 170: They See, but They Do Not Find."But when Morgan couldn't find her anymore, a wave of panic took over him with the feeling that he had seen that woman before.'Where is she?' he asked the doctor passing by, but the man simply looked at him with a confused expression. Morgan continued walk
**Ch. 166: Each Life** The next day, Gabriel accompanied Hanna on a tour of the places mentioned in the will she had inherited. However, there was still one place she dreaded visiting—the hospital room where her father lay. Despite her reluctance, Hanna knew she had to see him, understand his cond
Chapter 165: Freedom and Punishment Ruby didn’t understand what Hanna meant. She stood up and left again, demanding a phone from one of the soldiers. Her hands trembled like a green twig with everything that was happening. As she made the call, anxiety consumed her. “Office...” “Gabriel!” Hanna stam
