My mouth simply hangs open- my mind blurs as blood drips from my hands at the sight. Selene. Selene! Eyes of crimson peer through the darkness under the hold. Thin, long, dark claws elongate, scratching the wood as the creature emerges. A creature of skin and bones, of shadow and chaos. It stands taller than I have ever seen, switching from all fours to its two feet. It unfurled, fangs revealed as it growled. Drenched in blood, skin, and things only found within. Horror - complete and utter horror. I feel my heart give out. My soul leaves my body. Every man who sees it forgets the storm.

All the doors on the first floor started slamming open and shut. Mike and Susan were holding each other tight in abject terror, eyes wide open jumping from one slamming door to the next. “Library, please!” I called out, leaving the east parlor toward the other end of the hallway. The slamming stopped, and my footsteps weren’t the only ones creaking on the floorboards. The library door opened for me and closed again. For the first time ever, I felt the electricity in the air all those Youtubers talked so much about. I realized it mean upset or angry ghosts around.

Staring straight into those two bloody holes, their sanity plummeted. "Who ate my eyeball-popping candy? I'm taking an eye for an eye!" She slowly extended her hand. The player in front of her lost control, watching in terror as his own hand reached toward his eyes. The next instant, furious howling echoed again from behind. "My spicy human jerky!" The siren boss appeared at the entrance, carrying a crate of deep-sea treasure. When she saw her carefully ordered jerky trampled like trash, black mist erupted from behind her as she let out a soul-rending screech.

Under the blazing sun, the party walked for an entire half hour before arriving at the village square. "Is this a stone altar?" "Aren't altars par for the course when it comes to myths about the sea? What's there to be surprised about?" The party discussed amongst themselves carefully, before Afro exclaimed, "Wait, that altar isn't made of stones, it's made of human skulls! Wasn't this supposed to just be an A-ranked dungeon? How did so many people die here?" At the center of the square stood a massive watchtower built entirely from human bones.

"I know we need to leave. But would you mind if I...?" "Take your time," he said, rising. "I'll be in my room. Come for me when you're ready." He left, and I was alone with the quiet and the heavy book. I slid it closer, its stiff cover groaning in protest. The first page I turned to held a chillingly precise ink illustration of a "Silent Scourge." The text described a skeletal horror with unnervingly long, scythe-like claws. Though deaf, it could sense the faintest whisper of mana, possessed blinding speed, and had vision that far surpassed any mortal's.

"Everything in here might be haunted." "Yeah, but this one's got weird energy." She sliced the tape and flipped the flaps open. A mix of hardcovers and leather - bound journals, yellowed at the edges. One smelled like cloves and mildew. Another had pages stuck together with something she didn't want to name. She set them aside, one by one, cataloging quietly. Piper — cat, queen, bookstore menace — stalked over the counter like she owned it and plopped herself on the pile.

I apologize that this book is really short with less than 30k words in all. I plan to edit it at some point and make it better. I figured that a really long Horror book might be less interesting and would just seem drawn out. I've not read a lot of them but I watch horror movies so I wrote this like I would picture an Horror movie. I appreciate all those who stuck with me and read Reincarnation regardless. Thank you all. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it could still turn out to be a very odd Japanese sex toy. The Pope’s followers did not have that rotting-off-the-bone look you associate with zombies. Or zombers — I wouldn’t want to offend anyone. They were pale, had a desiccated quality to the parchment-like skin clinging to their bones, and milky balls of horror where their eyes should have been. Which isn’t to say they were bad people. Maybe they were ghouls who ate the dead, but cemeteries take up a lot of valuable real estate, and what exactly are we saving up our dead for?
