“He’s got a point, Ethel. You and Lester are the heart and soul of this place. If anyone deserves a little happiness, it’s you two. Whenever you’re ready, we’ll make it happen.” It was a gentle, well-meaning joke, a staple of the group’s good-natured teasing about her and Lester’s inseparable partnership. But it landed in the room at the same moment Levi, who had been observing the exchange with a look of cynical amusement, decided to add his two cents. “Yeah,” Levi said, a familiar, snarky edge returning to his voice now that the intense grilling was over. “Maybe you can get the priest to exorcise his dusty old books while he’s at it. He nervously adjusts his glasses and wipes his sweaty forehead with his palm. He waves at me. "And finally, Reuben Ackerman our golden boy," she says with a tease. Reuben just stares at me blankly with a slight tick in his jaw. He seemed irritated. "Let's get ready for our tutoring session shall we?" He says as he walks to the board and cleans a section of it.

He was going to do or say whatever he wanted to do or say. “Okay, what is your problem?” Levi finally walked in, joining them. He was very steady and his words were clear for someone who had drank half a bottle of vodka. It was impressive but it was not drinking was not something that he was impressed with. Levi had been listening but did not want to come out until now. “Why do you hate me?” He asked Ace. He was sick of passive aggression, hostile behavior, and verbal attacks. Ace chuckled rudely. “I don’t hate you, man. I just don’t like or trust you.” He shrugged.

No doubt he had his green smoothie this morning. I wince and turn around hiding the coffee mug behind my back. The last thing I want is another lecture from this guy. Levi is nice, nearly thirty, and engaged to a woman named Marissa who is a yoga instructor at the local gym. For a guy who is so into fitness, it sure didn't make sense that he owns a diner that sells pounds of greasy bacon and hash browns on the daily. "Sorry, Levi." LEVI Levi slammed the door to his room in anger as he made his way over to the mini-bar. He needed something to drink to calm his nerves after what had just happened. He couldn't actually believe that Alexa had spoken to him rudely and to make matters worse, she acted as if what she did was okay and she totally didn't care if he was the alpha of the pack or not. He picked a bottle of alcohol from the rack and poured himself a half filled glass before he took a long sip, feeling the liquid burn down his throat.

El asked "I'm going to stay at the hotel and take the first flight out of Arizona," he said. "But you should stay a while," El said and Levi's eyes fell on me briefly.

It's been a week since Levi's accident and now he's cleared to go home. Levi still doesn't remember me in any way even though I tried making him remember. I could tell he was uncomfortable with my presence but tolerated it. I know he was suspicious of me but he was trying to trust me. He also got his things back so I'm hoping that maybe there's something in his phone that would help him remember.

He flexed his hands, clenching and unclenching his fists as he repeated the motions a few times until he was used to the brass knuckles and felt confident enough he could punch someone without hurting himself in the process. Half an hour later, Levi made his way to his car, his box tucked safely under his arm. Mrs Ackerman was still at his place, cleaning out the fridge when he arrived. He spent a few minutes reminding her about the importance of discretion; she could certainly learn a thing or two from Angela. There'd be no raise for her for a very long time. "I'm sorry," she replied meekly, her head cocked to the side slightly. "I thought the lass knew."

She grabbed one of the men by the shoulder tightly and demanded, "What did you say? How do you know about this?" The man froze when he saw her face and stammered, "Dr. Ackerman, I didn't leak it. Every doctor in the hospital received the email. It was that video of you and Levi." Luna rushed to her computer in a daze, and sure enough, the video was there. Although it only showed their faces, the flashing pink leather whip and Levi's breathless, pained moans made it unmistakably clear what was happening. Luna sat frozen in front of the screen.
