I stared at my baby in awe and fear, my heart pounding in my chest. The baby in my arms looked up at me and smiled, innocent and unbothered, as though nothing had happened.
“I had given birth to twins,” I murmured to myself, the realization sinking in. “A boy and a girl. They will be my pride.”
Drake scoffed, though his movements were slower now, more cautious. “Like mother, like son,” he muttered. Then, with a bitter smile, he added, “But that’s good news. At least he can play a role in the war.”
