I had no comeback for such a comment, so I sat in the chair on the opposite side of the little round tea table and accepted the cup that she offered. “I was much younger than you when I married Lance’s father,” she began as she watched me sip my tea. “It was an arranged marriage, of course, but it was not arranged until I was sixteen. By then, we were too old to sleep in a bed together to allow our energies to blend. It makes a difference, you see. It is an excellent way to see if the couple is truly suited for each other.” She heaved a sigh. “Sometimes the families are correct in combining, but match the wrong children. ' Even though the boys and the girls knew that this was what the meeting was all about, they were still dumbfounded by the news. Mr Brown continued with his speech. "Kayla Davis, meet Alex Brown, your future husband" Kayla nodded her head. "And as from today henceforth, Alex, you have to start taking care of Kayla. You both are going to get married immediately after college."He ended his speech, opened the file in front of him and stamped it with the stamp that Kayla spotted earlier. Kayla's heart skipped so many beats after this, she felt as if she was going to faint at any moment. 'They should have asked for our own opinion too' she thought. Most of my cousins were either married or engaged at my age. I was an exception only because my parents were dead, so there was no one who could arrange my marriage other than Damon. Who is he a-and when is the wedding?" Mom's smile faded a little, her hand placed on my head as she stroked my strawberry blonde hair back and forth lightly. "They want things done quickly so it's gonna be tomorrow. You'll have to meet him at the altar, honey."

Right from day one, I suddenly started to realize why he was like that. Perhaps he didn't get his fame anymore. “Get your face clean and be ready for dinner tonight. Any form of clumsiness and tardiness won't be allowed.” He said and started to walk off, then he stopped in the middle of the hall. “And, we are to go for a contract marriage today.” He announced, and my eyes widened in utmost disbelief. “What!?” “I am sure you are not deaf and you could hear me. It can't be. ”Meaning I've secured a suitable match for you. It took quite a bit of work on my end, but the engagement has been finalized.” The words hit with the quiet force of a wrecking ball. Not shouted. No drama. Just a clinical statement, like he'd confirmed the weather or the price of gold. In another twenty minutes we were in the party receiving congratulations for our marriage from the people who couldn't be present at the reception and me being introduced to some of Christian and Matthew's important acquaintances. Yes, Christian's father was also present there. He beamed like a teenage girl seeing me and ran to envel

“Bryce made his choice, and his parents approved. Her parents accepted. This morning he gave her a ring, and they’re getting married next week.” “That’s crazy,” muttered Xian, frowning at the news. “Why would you marry someone you don’t love?” “Yeah, it’s crazy, but it’s not as if Brielle has a choice here,” Kione gritted her teeth. “Gen said it’s a tradition, but in this arranged marriage, they didn’t need the consent of the woman.
