Lily stood up in front of everyone a little timidly, she also stretched her arms out in front of her, recited a spell like Amity, closed her eyes, then opened them again, without any movement. *** The first howl cuts through the air like a blade. Kaia freezes mid-sentence. We’re on the back porch now, watching dusk melt into night. A second howl follows, this time, longer, angrier. Lucien and Elen burst from the side, blades drawn. "Stay back!" Then it appears. A spirit-wolf. Bone white, with eyes like shards of starlight. Its form is half-smoke, half-solid, the air around it rippling with ghost fire. "Why is it here?" Nyrielle demands, wings lifting in alarm.

A force full of air came out from my mouth and nose in a rush, “I’m sorry. That was rude of me.” “Bless you, child,” the woman on the left holding an owl pulled at the glass. “Who are these people, dad?” I looked at him and a tilted head. “They are called The Spirit Wolves of Fate. They can see everything—your past, present, and future. From the left is Merah, next to her is Deliah and finally there’s Cephia. Say hello, son,” he replied with enthusiasm. “We have no time for human subtleties as the sun has recently dipped into the darkness,” Deliah commented.

As we walk further in, we see more and more spirits but none of them approach us, opting to float behind weirdly bent and spiraling trees, peeking at us through the branches. Some of the spirits have more of a human shape than others, while some just look like blurred greyish white, nearly blending and disappearing into the snow. Some others are darker in color, and these ones try to approach us, but the spirit who is showing us the way to Callista darts towards the dark spirits and hisses at them, making them go away.

Instead, their attention focused entirely on me. I began to hum softly, establishing a connection with them. The familiar melody calmed their restless movements. They settled into sitting positions, forming a circle around me. As the moon rose higher, I moved to the next phase. I took a handful of crushed herbs from a golden bowl and cast them into the small fire burning before me. The flames turned blue, releasing fragrant smoke that went upward. "Spirits of the moon," I chanted, my voice gaining power, "hear my call. These souls before me are lost between worlds, neither wolf nor human. Guide them back to wholeness."

So, there is a department working to make rules for these spirits. If a mortal break those rules, than they are allowed to eat them. For example, for Omar, if a mortal sees hima MD lay on the earth pretending to be death, than he can not eat them. For lilly, if they look at her reflection than she is allowed to eat them."

This was no flesh-and-blood creature, it was the void itself given shape. "What are you?" My words trembled even as I tried to plant steel in them. The creature laughed, the sound being empty and endless "The First Shadow, the hunger Morgana served and the end your kind fancies itself can outrun" Nasir snarled, the wolf in his tone "Then we'll end you too" The cave groaned in mockery of his promise and darkness charged forward and crashed into his wolf's golden blaze. The fight was on the earth, light and shadow spewing in blazing sparks. Nasir drew back, teeth gritted but stood fast.

"Something's out there. Something big." "The manifestation again?" I ask, joining him. He shakes his head. "Different energy signature. This feels... physical." Mrs. Holloway quickly begins activating additional wards, murmuring incantations under her breath. The air in the cabin thickens with protective energy. "Get away from the windows," she orders sharply.

"What are you talking about, Volk?" The Owl!Volk growled back, his golden energy surging violently against Hati’s ribs. The female spirit inside her! She spoke to me, Hati! She knows us! She remembers the snow forests before the Great War! Hati froze, his breathing coming in heavy, jagged rasps. His golden eyes dilated sharply in the torchlight.
