⛏️ Chapter Twelve: The Descent into the Silver Veins The air in the disused mine shaft hit us like a physical weight—damp, metallic, and cold. The familiar scent of earth and granite was overlaid with a strange, subtle hum that made the hairs on my arms rise. This was the source of the Silver Wolf Pack’s ancient magic—the ground itself was rich in trace lunar metal, a faint echo of the Shard's power. It was protection, but it was also a homing beacon.

The Alpha shouts to Connie. “OH, you feel good my love, I am going to have fun with you until your eighteenth birthday. I am going to break you” he says into my ear. He keeps thrusting and the guy puts silver powder on my wound and I see stars. This hurts so much that I want to die. After a few minutes, he is groaning and then comes with a loud growl, I can feel his cum filling my ass. He lets my hair go and pulls out of me and smacks my ass praising me.

He nodded at one of his men who took two giant steps towards me. Tyler made to barricade me but spiky-sir aimed his rifle at him. "Mm-mm, Lycan, in here is contained Silver nitrate bullets of 50g which in my calculation will bring down the toughest of a Lycan in say... 1 second." He twists his lips sarcastically to the side, with his eyes up in thought. "So, think of your next action wisely unless you wish to die before you get a chance to save your dearest fair lady. Bring her to me." The man grabbed my arm and yanked me in his direction.

It was empty. "The Silver Moonstone isn't just jewelry, Maya," Cillian said, leaning against the wall for support. "It contains the concentrated lunar essence of the First Alpha. For centuries, the Vane family—the Silver-Backs—have held it. It acts as a dampener. It keeps our scent hidden from humans and, more importantly, it keeps the peace between the packs."

"Come on," Silver said, his voice softening as he turned back to her. "I want to show you something." "We're naked in your bed. What more could you possibly want to show me?" “Let me finish the grand tour. Then we can order food, open a bottle, and recreate the first time we met. But today I’ve got something special.” “What’s that?” Silver grinned and reached into his nightstand, pulling out a small transparent bag filled with icy white powder and a bottle of expensive whiskey. He held them up like prizes.

He left before he did something stupid. That night, the Forgotten hit a bigger target— an underground fight club the Crimson Shadows used to make money and recruit. Kael led the raid. Kira and five others with him. It went perfect at first. Guards down. Cash taken. A message left in blood on the wall: The Silverfang lives. As they slipped out the back, floodlights snapped on. Ambush. Twenty Crimson Shadow fighters poured in, guns ready. Someone had tipped them off. Kael shifted fast—full wolf this time, silver fur glowing.

Derek Stygian’s stripper's club was bathed in a deep red light. The kind that makes everything look darker than it really was. Shadows moved along the walls as slow music played through hidden speakers, the bass low and steady like a heartbeat. The air felt hot with sin, heavy with smokes of their cigarettes, filled with sweat of the male strippers and the tables were filled with expensive alcohol. Not everyone in the city was allowed into Stygian's secret cult. Only those who are ready to sell their soul for discretion are allowed in.

I had to struggle to suppress a laugh. The Silver Myst was an urban legend, a pure silver wolf who showed up when things looked at their worst. He first appeared near four years ago, shortly after the war began, and has, supposedly, been seen numerous times since. It was always out of the corner of someone’s eye, or seen by a friend of a friend. Chris and the others were too old to believe in fairy tales.

“This is the agreement you need to sign before becoming the Luna. Sign it. Hurry up! We can arrange the marking ceremony later. Lilith is still waiting for me.” Alexander tapped his fingers impatiently against the wooden table. Even at a monumental moment like this, his mind was entirely occupied by Lilith, who was currently suffering through her full moon heat. Only the herbal broth brewed by his own hands could soothe her agonizing pain. I stared down at the ancient, weathered parchment, a sudden chill seeping through my fingertips.

She grabs the phone and puts it on speaker, placing it on the dashboard so she could focus on driving. The deep baritone of the voice that comes through next, does nothing to hide the sneer of it’s owner. “Hello Silver.”
